We arrived on a Monday evening and there were only two other couples in the small, cosy dining area so we were seated immediately - right next to the fire which was great as it was freezing outside!
We ordered starters - salmon parcel and duck scotch egg - both of which were nice. It was the mains, however, that we thought were lovely. We both opted for the burgers with triple cooked chips and a side salad to share. As far as we were concerned, the burger was faultless - just the right size, well cooked and plenty of flavour (thanks, in part, to the thick cheese). The prices are a little higher than your average pub (bill was £54 for 2 starters, 2 main meals, a raspberry champagne cocktail and 2 glasses of champagne) but we thought the food was worth it. Service was great - pleasant without being intrusive. We will be returning!
