I booked this hotel as it was dirt cheap at £33 per night, I looked at the hotels website and it looked amazing. The pictures of the rooms are so clean and fresh it makes you think that you are getting a luxury stay at a bargain rate.
When we arrived and parked up we were horrified - please see attached pics.
We went to the reception which was dirty and unfriendly. Checked in and went to our rooms, no clear directions given on how to find our rooms. We walked down the corridor which reminded me of a hostel, the corridors were dirty, the bedroom doors looked like they would go down with one swift kick and it was bloody freezing. We entered the room to find that we had a shower....most disappointed as we wanted a bath and website stated that most rooms have baths. The bathroom was small and dirty, the shower was dating back to the 1960's if not earlier. The room was cold when we arrived but the panel heater soon warmed up. The room looked dirty and unwelcoming and to my absolute horror we had an adjoining door!! We could hear everything the 13year old drunkards were saying next door. The bed springs were sticking out through the mattress making it impossible to get a good nights sleep. We felt like we couldn't relax and really didn't enjoy our experience at the Paragon.
When we checked out the reception made no effort to talk to us, no "how was your stay" or "safe journey home" when did receptionists become so unfriendly???
I cannot complain as I only paid £33 for the room but I could have paid the same for a Travelodge and I would have been in luxury!!
My main gripe is the adjoining door, why would a hotel allocate a young couple like us in an adjoining suite with two drunken teenagers next door??? There is no way the hotel was at capacity and the team should really look at how they allocate rooms.
My advice is do not book this hotel, I know its a bargain price 10mins from the Bullring but I've stayed in better sheds at Butlins.
Please can the Paragon update their website, we would like to see photos of the actual rooms that you have you should really check some of the wording. Webby says that the hotel includes FREE parking - a vile hole that I wouldn't encourage anyone to park in and FREE wifi - doesn't extend past the second floor.
Oh and one plug socket in the room, you can have either the TV on, the light or your phone charging....ridiculous!
