“Great for a short city break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013 via mobile

Modern clean bedroom for £80 B&B for 2 adults and a child is good VFM on a weekday. Good shower with well positioned controls. Had a good night's sleep in a comfy bed and plenty of choice for breakfast. Good view of city from 15th floor.
On site parking for £10 for £24 hours, which is OK for a hotel within 10 minutes walk of the city centre. Multi-storey car park access is at rear of the hotel. Access to hotel from car park is via 2nd floor lift. Reception is on 3rd floor.
Was able to book in at 11am as room was ready; cannot do this very often.
Other than breakfast, limited food options available with just a small choice on bar menu.
Reception, breakfast room, lounge, bar and office/work area are all co-located on 3rd floor. Very helpful staff.
Would recommend this hotel to others.

We pre-booked 6 twin rooms however on arrival we were given double rooms. When we questioned this we were basically told tough.

The rooms were very small and basic.

The bar was very expensive and the bar staff moved at a snails pace. The food at breakfast was self service and appalling.

Even though it was a great location for nighlife I would not stay here again.

hotel rooms are very nice and clean. really like the bathroom, it has a powerful shower. the hotel was well suited for the purpose that we needed it for. i only found one problem, because of the reception being on the third floor, which i found a bit odd, the lifts are in constant use, so you have to get a lift to check in, then get a lift to your room, then get a lift to check out, then get a lift to the ground floor, did seem to be waiting for lifts for a while. on a whole though, it was a nice hotel and the breakfast was nice too.

Room was good, fantastic view and very clean and tidy, my only issue is that to run a hotel as limited service you have to make sure that the few services you do offer are correct, had to wait for everytihng, bar, reception, breakfast etc. Other than this though, the hotel was good value.

Check in reminded me of a New York hotel, it's not on ground floor, so the sparse entrance didnt exactly present a good first impression. However..check in was flawless and the room reasonably comfortable.

The rooms are modern, almost modular where the sliding bathroom door is also the wardrobe door. All very modern no doubt!

The TV volume was very low, almost too low. Lighting, like a lot of modern hotels, was a pain. What ever happened to basic switches and lights where you need them?

No bath...just a shower, albeit a very powerful and spacious shower.

For a brief stay The Hampton is very good value and following my visit several colleagues are using this hotel. It's actually quite cleverly designed and gives an impression of modernity and quality whilst it manages to keeps it rates somewhere between a Travelodge and a Novotel. i expect to use this hotel again.

Bad points...looking forward to a relaxing bath only to find a shower...

Good points...location, cleanliness, relatively new, price, breakfast often included.

The Hotel is fantastic. Staff very personable. Rooms extremely modern and well equiped.Bed was amazingly comfortable. Bathroom was again very new and modern, lovely fluffy white towels. For what we paid, it was great value for money.

I was given a shocking room whic i realised once i arrived was wheelchair accesible - there was hardware for this throughout the bathroom which resembled a hospital not a hotel. I was not told at the time of booking that this room was wheelchair accessible and i would have requested sommething other than this had i the choice. By the time i had arrived at the room I had been driving for 100s of miles for many hours and had no energy to traspe back to reception to request another option. The floor of the bathroom was wet when i arrived so my shoes maked the floor filthy so I found my self on my hands and knees cleaning it!!! There was a weird red matter on the shower curtain and bathroom wall that looked like blood and the heating didnt work properly. I called reception several times to get this resloved and on the 3rd time some one promised to visit to assist - no one ever came.
I kicked off my shoes and unpacked - i took my toiletries bag to the bathroom and returned to the bed - sitting cross legged on the bed i noticed a pubic hair stuck to the sole of my foot - obv no mine and there was long hair also on the floor of the bathroom.
The checking in process took forever and despite 4 people on the desk only one bothered to serve and no one acknowledged me for the entire time I waited. There was a group of very drunk workmen staying (and working) in the hotel who when i arrived were standing inside the entrance on the car park level smoking around the lift. They were inappropriate and very forward and continued to harrass me everytime i went to or passed through reception. I tried to access the car during the evening to fetch something to my room but despite ringing reception and being told the lift to take was the far left it was of course the far right and only accessible through reception.

When I asked the woman on reception if there were any food outlets close by she asked me what i like - i said i wasnt sure - maybe chinese or thai or italian - she responded that there was nothing like this close only kebabs or indian. After a short wlak myself i found about 6 different types of food outlets in a range of prices and categories. To add insult to injury her manner when dealing with me was as if it was am imposition to be bothered reponding to a very simple and i would assume fairly comming query.
The bed was comfortable and the pillows lovely - but - shame on you hilton - unfriendly staff, dirty room and institutional bathroom set up was all bad.

Room Tip: go somewhere else
