“Castle Bromwich Hall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

Having worked at CBH when the building was occupied by Bovis Homes we decided to have a small reunion a couple of weeks ago. It was an interesting experience, particularly when staying the same room which used to be my office with all the wonderful features such oak wall panels being retained. The hotel has been refurbed and is well worth a visit particularly in the summer when the gardens will be at their best and the building itself is full of historic interest, although its location whilst close to the motorway does not have much else going for it. The staff were excellent and so helpful which was an absolute bonus, both diner and breakfast proved to be a success particularly the smoked salmon and poached eggs for breakfast. Having said that we were disapointed that there was no hot water available to shower in the morning as there had been problems with the boilers and even more worrying was that none of the electric appliances had been (pac?) tested with exposed wires showing to the kettle and hairdryer. All in all though good value for money and enjoyable experience

As a thank you, my brother invited my wife and myself to the hotel for Sunday lunch. On the day it had snowed heavilly, however, whilst we were unable to explore the gardens, the hotel staff were most welcomimg and we enjoyed an excellent lunch. We will definately return for further family celebrations.

Me & my husband stayed for valentines & had a brilliant time. The room was perfect, grounds were lovely & the staff were very helpfull & friendly. If you want to go to a hotel & just stay & eat it is perfect. However there isnt much to do in the area. Overall though i would recommend.

Stayed on boxing day 2012, we were put in the outhouses so not in the main part of the hotel. Really pleasanly surprised by the room - clean and spacious with lots of little luxuries, nice toiliteries and a fabulous shower. Will definintely stay here again, but next time will ask to stay in the main part of the hotel as you would probably get a better view of the gardens (the view we had was of a car park). Also I think my rating is higher than it would be had we paid full price but we got our room on a very cheap last minute deal. Didn't sample the breakfast.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the main part of the hotel

We live locally and popped in with friends for coffee. This historic house has a great atmosphere and a comfy lounge. Friendly service. They were quite happy for us to wander round the building - the 18th-century long gallery is well worth a look - and check out the amazing plaster work on the celings. Had a lovely afternoon there.

We enjoyed our first visit to this Historic and interesting hotel. Our room in the main house was pleasantly warm and inviting altho the bathroom was not so warm. Heavy curtains kept out the draught from single glazed windows. Our food at dinner and breakfast was extremely tasty and satisfactory. The music was more serious at dinner with lighter music at breakfast. Staff were extremely friendly and obliging. Overall a very pleasant experience.

We were attending a trade fair at the NEC and booked Castle Bromwich Hall because of it's close proximity, and because it looked more interesting than the usual bog standard hotel chains. The photographs on the website showed a beautiful building with sumptuous rooms, and we were looking forward to our stay. However, when we arrived we were told that, because of an 18th birthday party, the restaurant would be closed. They said we could eat in our room and they would waive the usual £5 charge for room service. Unfortunately, the room service menu was very limited and our room was not one where two people could comfortably eat given there was only one chair! The room we had been allocated was in an annexe to the main hotel called The Brewhouse and, although it looked ok from the outside, the rooms were small and bland - not even a picture on the walls. The rooms were spotlessly clean though and the bed was lovely and comfortable. I think it would be useful if the website was updated with more pictures of the interior rooms, including the ones in the annexe which are very different to the ones in the main building. When booking it should be made clear where you will be sleeping and if any functions are on during your stay that may alter the services they usually provide. The buffet breakfast was £10 each and not bad at all, with a reasonably good selection to suit all tastes.

Room Tip: When booking check to see if there are any functions on that could affect your stay and ask where th...
