“A shocking state!! Have they stopped caring”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

Where do I start? After using this hotel on several occasions in the past I was disgusted and appalled by my last stay in the Frankley Services Travelodge. I have never felt so let down, disappointed, and unwelcomed by one of your Travel lodges in my life time.

We continued to our room up a smelly corridor, we continued to room 125 and was appalled by its state (Very smelly room, dirty bathroom floor, dirty black grout on bathroom tiles, dented shower rail, dirty marked walls on every wall, broken window locks to maintain security as we were on the ground floor, a noisy room on the motorway side. grubby sofa bed). We were so disgusted that you could offer a family or in fact any customer this standard of room that my husband returned to the reception to ask for another room.

We carried all the bedding to the new room up the stairs including our own luggage bags to stay in room 210. We found the room cleaner in comparison to 125 but still run down, tired, sofa bed torn and grubby and a dirty bathroom floor, bath panel peeling away from the bath and a sticky patch on the carpet at the end of the bed. The sheets were clean but the window locks were better but one was missing completely. We were so tired at this point we then had to request towels and toilet roll by going back down stairs. We had to use baby wipes to clean the bathroom floor and they were black and the floor looking brighter after doing this but no soap from Travelodge to wash our hands with.

You get what you pay for and this was true, but never the case in the past. We found most of the staff unapproachable and rude. It has put us off Travelodge for good even though we have used them for years. It needs a refurb and the staff looked fed up. What a shame as we have stayed here before and enjoyed it, it feels as if they have stopped caring at this lodge.

I think people need to have some reality check when they book a travelodge...when you pay £19 for a hotel in a great location at short notice you need to know that you will not be getting a Mayfair style hotel

The staff on reception were polite and attentive, knowledgeable about the facilities on the service station and very helpful

The rooms are what they are - basic and clean. The bed is comfortable and you have all the basic needs for a good nights stay

There is very little traffic noise and after 10pm the hotel is silent

I would stay here again with no doubt

Stayed here for 1 night. Arrived late 10.30pm. Staff helpful. Was a standard unfurbished travelodge. Clean room, bed was ok. We only paid £29 for a family room 2 adults 1 child. Somewhere to lie your head.

This Travelodge is extremely tired and in need of a major refurbishment. What made matters worse was that it was dirty and grubby as well. The walls had marks, grease and I hate to thinks what else smeared on them. The skirting boards were thick with dust and the furniture was torn. Never again staying here.

Room Tip: Check your room for dirt prior to staying

This is not a luxury mini break hotel but doesn't market itself as such. For an overnight stop it was ok for the price we paid. Where else can you pay £18 for a family room!

The reception- ok, not that pleasant. Lots of laundry in the corridor but think that was just the time we arrived.

Family room- cleanish ( don't look too closely). Could do with a refurb. Compared to the travelodge we stayed at euston was v dated and in need of a deep clean. Had to ask for more than one towel but the chap brought it quickly. Shower powerful. Bed clean enough. Nice view of the car park.

Communal areas- smellt strongly of cigarettes although meant to be no smoking I think because of people smoking just outside reception.

At service station with a costa and m&s for breakfast so handy.

Wouldn't rush back but arrived at 9.30 left at 9 so served it's purpose.

We stayed here for one night on a saturday as my daughter was dancing in a competition on the Sunday in Edgbaston. Little did we know that Crufts was also on that weekend do the carpal was full of vans with dogs that barked all night. That aside, the receptionist was lovely considering we arrived at 11.30pm after a nightmare 5 hour drive. The communal areas were a bit grubby and worn, the room which was a family room was ok, but the double bed sunk in the middle. The bed linens and towels were clean. We only paid £18 for one night for a family room for 3 people so we weren't robbed. We've booked up to stay 2 nights in June £36 as we're at another comp. it's somewhere to lie your head. Nothing more.

Just come back from overnight stay , never again. We love travel lodge , we have two young children and have often stayed with travelodge ,so we expect cheap and cheerful but this particular one was in a different league ! And not in a good sense!. First room we were given we couldnt get the door open with the key, had to leave the kids with the luggage to get the receptionist who also couldnt open it either and when she forced it , the lock fell to bits!.We were allocated another room and when i opened the door it absolutely stank of smoke ! Even though it is all non smoking. The room had obviously been cleaned but was still filthy. There were various stains on the bedding and the couch which also both stank of smoke.I complained again and the receptionist who was very nice and agreeded with me that she could smell the smoke could only offer an airfreshner as they were fully booked !! We had to stay in the room and it absolutely reaked of smoke , bedding, bathroom, carpets, eveything . The sink wasnt very clean , the bath was disgusting and as for the kettle, when i went to fill it up it was covered in lime scale and black bits.URGHHH horrible stay , even for one night, felt my skin crawling when we left, never again and as i say we love travelodge, never had a problem before.

Room Tip: two rooms out of two offered were both awful.
