Well, first of all I have to say that this place is really, really cheap and that the two members of staff we met were very pleasant and helpful, especially the nice French lady.
The rooms are 24.95 GBP and sleep 2 or 3 people, in a double bed plus an upper bunk. In fact, if you've ever stayed at an Etap hotel then the rooms are identical here except for the fact that they are not en-suite. The toilets and showers are outside the rooms.. there are alot of them and they are basically clean (they are 'self-cleaning', water must be squirted automatically somehow). They are the same plastic design as in Etap hotels.
There are two main problems with this hotel, despite the very cheap price. The first is the INCREDIBLY noisy location. The traffic noise is deafening even in the middle of the night (boy-racer style engine noises and screeching) so that I really don't think you will sleep here without ear plugs. Even with the window closed. The second problem is that the room really wasn't very clean. The sheets were clean but the bed spread obviously is not changed often and smelled feintly of body odour and cologne. And the room was fairly dirty as well.
Having said all of that, where on earth will you otherwise find a safe and secure bed for 12.50 GBP or 8 GBP (depending on whether 2 or 3 in the room) per person per night. No, I won't be going back but there again if you're looking for a room that's cheap above all else then this is your hotel. I think basically it is fair for the price. The only way you will get a better deal is with the Saver or Supersaver rooms that Travelodge offer paid in advance. Or a hostel or youth hostel. Formule 1, like all of the Accor hotels, has a very fair cancellation policy. You can cancel up to 7pm on the day of arrival with no penalty. You can also arrive at any time and gain access via the 'vending machine' at the entrance.
I have to say (on a positive note) that everything was very efficiently dealt with, the beds were comfortable and also the breakfast which is bread, butter, cereals, hot drinks, juice was also absolutely fine and fair enough for the extra 2.50 GBP. Actually the wholemeal bread was absolutely delicious - one of the nicest breads I've ever had.
If you're really desperate for a cheap place then go ahead, but take your ear-plugs.
