Owner description: The New Alexandra Theatre, commonly known as the Alex, is a theatre on Station Street in Birmingham, England. The theatre currently seats 1,371 and hosts a busy programme of touring drama, West End shows and stand-up comedy. It was the home of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company between 1990 and 1997. “There's nothing grand about the grand circle when you're packed in like sardines!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

This is really a review of the theatre rather than the show.
There's nothing grand about the grand circle at this theatre or about the toilets! I'm just under 6' and my wife is 5'3 and we both had no space to put our feet. The seats were the most uncomfortable we've ever sat in. You can't sit with your feet forward! You had to either be on your tip toes or have your feet at quarter to three. Even when you did this the seat still dug into the back of your legs. Being tortured for 2.5 hours detracts from the show a little! Sardines have more space. The toilets were disgusting, the urinals are packed in as tightly as the seats, one was blocked to overflowing and the toilet in the ladies was also blocked.
Tickets were £25 each and given the discomfort were worth £10 each at the most.
Ghost itself was ok and Oda Mae was good, but Molly was pitchy to say the least.
To cap it all I purchased these for my wife for Christmas as a surprise and asked for them to be sent to my sons address but they still sent them home and my wife opened them.

“''Ghost'' Amazing show!!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

Went to see this show Boxing night what a fantastic performance! The cast were brilliant especially the psychic Oda Mae Brown, whoever cast the lady for that part did an exceptional job! The sets were brilliant, we have visited many musicals in the West End London and this was as good if not better.
We paid £15 per ticket and booking fees. but once inside there was some empty seats so after the 11 minute settling in we were able to move into much better seats!
Well done Alexandra theatre and the cast of 'Ghost'
BRILLIANT!!!!!!!

“Ghost”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

Very disappointed in both the theatre refreshment prices and the show. We had pre theatre drinks over at the mail box with beautiful surroundings paying £4 a pint. To our total surprise when we ordered drinks at the theatre we paid a staggering £4 for a half pint of bottled carlsberg making this £8 a pint. Never have we been anywhere that charge such crazy prices. When we asked for a serviette we was told this would cost 50p.
The show was amature with very little propping and staging. We was sat in the upper circle and could still hear the squeaking of set changes. The character Sam and Oda Mae was the saving grace for this show, unfortunately Mollie was pretty average with a bit of a screeching voice. Finally you do come to expect quite a big scene when the famous unchained melody is sung however this seemed to slip by without any big deal. Such a shame.

“Lots of additional charges”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2013

When you book you have to pay 20-30% extra on top of the ticket price for 'fees', the online booking does not make it clear which show you are booking if there are several in one day. Once you pay all of your fees you still have to queue up for your tickets, the car park is also a rip off (£7) and you will be queing for 1/2 to 2/4 an hour to get out. Finally you can't get a drink before the show because the queues are so long which is surprising given a glass of wine is £7. Seats are also very cramped for me at 6' tall.
