“One of my favourites.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

This is one of my favourite places to pop into in Birmingham. It's always beautiful, with helpful staff and interesting exhibitions. There's almost no point in my writing about it, you should simply take a few hours and go yourself! A delightful and contemplative time can be had here.

“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

A lovely collection that's varied enough to maintain our interest but small enough that we weren't overwhelmed. It was very quiet on the Sunday we visited so we had time and space to stand, appreciate and chat about the work on display. Some quite surprising pieces like Clara the rhinocerous, and some paintings that just made us go wow!
All of the staff were helpful and informative. We chatted at length with Alf (originally from the north east) who knew a great deal but was obviously also genuinely interested in the subjects. Thank you to everyone involved for an uplifting and enjoyable experience.
Free entry but the "suggested donation" of £3 each was very reasonable.
By the way, on a Sunday you can drive up to the barrier to the front car park, press the button and they'll let you in. So free and easy parking as well!

“the art centre of Birmingham”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

Though less well known than the main Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery this gallery has a superb collection with something for everyone . It also has more gravitas than BMAG : there tends not to be youngsters running around wild so the exhibits can be enjoyed in peace . Whilst visiting the Barber it is rewarding to find time to walk around the adjacent University of Birmingham campus , particularly the clock tower and the buildings in its immediate vicinity .

“A charming gem in the suburbs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

A delightful small collection of art by some surprising greats. Set in the grounds of the University of Birmingham, in a stylish 1930s building, the art work is displayed simply, chronologically and logically.
