“Not too bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013 via mobile

It's a nice place and the menu is good (they had run out of chicken when we went though). We both had a steak and it was nice, but I felt the chips were quite greasy.

The waitress was lovely and told us it was 50% off if we had a card. We didn't but she got us to fill in a quick form and we managed to halve the bill so that was good.

Overall it's a nice place with a good beer garden. We won't be rushing back but may return at some point to try something else.

“Great food but so many missing things.....why ?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

Spent 2 hours at the restaurant this evening with family and friends who had traveled from the Far East to attend a graduation ceremony nearby. The restaurant is clean and tidy, with nice facilities outside the front where you can enjoy a drink under parasols.

Our party of 12 were delayed due to the awful traffic and we were initially told that our table had been used by other diners. The duty manager was apologetic and eventually, after little fuss, was able to accommodate us.

Nice menu, plenty to chose from and all of our meals were served hot with only a moderate wait. Our waiter was attentive and courteous and the restaurant seemed organised and well run. Despite there being many diners it was very well organised.

Suprisingly, for a restaurant that seemed on the money, there were several items shown on the menu that were not available. One of our friends ordered carrots with his meal only to be told that they were out ( of carrots ). Not sure how that can happen in July in England but it would be akin to going for a Chinese meal only to be told that there were no beansprouts. There were several other items missing, that we wanted to order, cheese and biscuits were cancelled because they were out of biscuits ( honestly ), the waiter recommended the bread and butter pudding but they had run out.

So the review is mainly to say that this is a good place to eat, lovely grub, reasonably priced food, well prepared, clean and tidy premises, hospitable and helpful staff. Maybe the missing food had also been caught in the traffic.

I would also like to thank the waiter for accommodating our son, who is a very fussy eater.

This "Chain" restaurant was excellent. Food great (steaks and salmon) - excellent value and a lovely waitress who look after us admirably. Well done!

“Amazing!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013 via mobile

After arriving with our large party for a celebration meal. We were escorted to our table by Tracy the Manageress. Although we didn't book,we were well accomadated for & all went well from the off. Nothing was too much trouble, the service & meals were excellent. Although I though it was just steak n chips,I was pleasantly surprised on what was on offer. We had a mixture of meals which all went down really well. Will be definitely will be returning to the Duck,a must on the Hagley Road. Thank you all for a wonderful evening!!

“Pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

The first time I visited this restaurant was shortly after it had been refurbished, and the service and food was so bad that our whole party had our bill cancelled! However, visited again for an impromptu celebration on Thursday night, and wow what a difference! Shown straight to a table and offered some bread and snacks, then introduced to our waitress who took our drinks order. When she returned with them we ordered. The food was very good, quite enjoyable and the service remained very good throughout. Pleasantly surprised by the bill, and happy to visit again!
