“Fantastic Beer, Great Atmosphere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

If you want to indulge yourself with a fantastic selection of well kept and tasty real ales, this is the place to go. Each time I have been in I have been able to choose from at least 8 different ales, including the locally brewed (they have their own micro brewery within the pub) slaughterhouse brewery beers. Ooh and if you fancy taking some home they have 2 pint containers so you can enjoy later, Brilliant!

“A lunchtime treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

This traditional pub is certainly seeking out not only for it's excellent range of cask drawn ales but also for it's excellent food. A little way off the beaten track, some way out of the town centre, it is the home of the Slaughterhouse micro brewery, makers of some very fine beers. Lunch is served from 12 until 4pm and consists of traditional English pub grub. The apple smoked ham and eggs and the fried fish and chips were excellent for our lunch on Saturday. Evening food is offered every couple of weeks with a featured menu but the pub is modern take on traditional surroundings; no piped music and no television in the bar. There is also a function room that seats up to 80 and is where Sunday lunch is served when they have an overflow.

If all you're looking for is an English pub serving great traditional ales where you have a sensible (or not) conversation, then this is it. and if you want food, then for lunch you'll not find better in the area.
