“Third time not so lucky!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013 via mobile

This was our third visit to Sorrento and we will not be returning. The food here & the value is brilliant we had prawns and mussles to start & Seabass and red mullet for mains. Really well cooked, fresh and tasty. The service we received was shocking! The lady who I assumes owns the place was friendly but everyone else barely bothered with us. We waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken, we were forgotten about all evening and although we were planning to stay for pudding we left after the main. No one asked us how our food was and I just wish we had eaten somewhere else. Not good!

“A Very Unwelcome Welcome”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

Living in Stratford, we had considered this restaurant for some time as it looked quite inviting from the outside. So, on a Friday morning we decided to book and used the on-line booking service for a table for 2 at 7.30. Looking forward to a nice dinner out, we turned up in a happy disposition to be met by a grumpy waiter who informed us that he didn't have our booking. Fair enough, but could we dine? Yes, but not without being made to feel we were very unwelcome. We said it was hardly our fault if the booking system hadn't worked, only to be told it wasn't his fault either! With a foul look on his face he then led us to the back of the restaurant (which was only half occupied) and were pointed at a corner table in the far corner, facing a plain wall. This was clearly the equivalent of the "naughty steps"! At this point, with further unpleasant discussion with the waiter, we decided to leave rather than continue our evening in this unfriendly, almost hostile, evironment. This was a very disappointing experience and one that we will not repeat.

“Excellend food and lovely atmosphere”

We chose this restaurant because we had been to Sorrento on our honeymoon last year and the food here, was as good as we had eaten in Sorrento. We will definitely be coming back on our next trip to Stratford.

“Good traditional restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

Visiting Stratford for trip to see Hamlet, I was looking for a decent pre theatre venue to share a meal for 2 and after some research decided to book here, and was most pleased with my decision.

I cannot abide faceless, insipid chain restaurants which all offer the same vacuous dining experience, and of which Italian cuisine unfortunatley has an abundance of.

However this little gem of a restaurant, with it's delightful sense of understated charm provides a most welcome antidote to these large chains providing indolent menus for the masses.

We plumped for the pre theatre set dinner which was 2 courses for £15.

There was plenty on the menu to choose from, and if one so desired extra dishes could be added for a small supplement. The food was of a good standard, cooked beautifully and with generous portions.

I really liked the intimate feel of the restaurant, and it made for a very pleasant dining experience sitting by the window watching the world go by.

The staff were friendly and attentive, and I felt we received excellent service.

A great little restaurant with much indidvidual charm and character, which also offers superb value for money.

Top notch :)

“Return visit - very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013 via mobile

Not being from the area we can't be regulars here but we came up to this restaurant for the second time for Valentines night which we enjoyed. Obviously it was very busy and staff seemed a bit rushed. Was slightly annoyed to be sat next to a loud group of about 3 or 4 couples with shrieking women and men who seemed to try and be out posturing each other all night, could barely hear my partner talk- however, a minor nit pick and not the restaurants fault. Quite expensive but worth it for a special occasion. Manager is very helpful despite previous comments made here. Just cos she wouldn't give you a free bottle of wine cos your order came out wrong the first time does not make her "unprofessional" - makes you sound like a right chancer! Lol
