“Lovely B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

Just spent three nights over the bank holiday at the Applegarth. We stayed in the front room facing the street. It was quite noisy being a main road into the town, but to be honest we are heavy sleepers so this didn't effect to much. The back rooms were obviously quieter. Room were very clean and the towels and tea & coffee facilities were replenished every day. The breakfast was very good offering full English. Vegetarians were also catered for. The manager/owner and staff were very friendly and offered a good service. B&B is located approx 5 mins from town centre so ideal and central for everything. There is private parking at the back of premises, although if this is busy, one can use the grounds at the front of B&B. If we were in the area again, we would be happy to use it.

Room Tip: Try to book the back of B&B as this is quieter

We spent one night at this hotel when we went to a performance at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. The location is excellent, about 5 minutes walk to the theatre.Check-in is at 2pm but we arrived early and were allowed to park our car at the hotel which was much appreciated.
Our room was quite large with comfortable chairs and tea making equipment. The drawback of the rooms in the front is the traffic noise that even double glazing can't cut out.The hotel is at junction with traffic on two sides, maybe we could have used ear plugs if we had known.
Everything is very clean and the breakfast is good with proper coffee and catering for vegetarians.
I would be happy to use this hotel again but would make sure we had a room at the back.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

I wanted a single room for two nights, at short notice to see some Shakespeare plays. Many establishments were full so I came here taking a double room for single occupancy, around £55 per night. The location is excellent and the parking is off-road. The area is safe, walking alone at night after the theatre. Breakfast was plentiful, with a choice of fruits, cereals and full English breakfasts. My ground floor room was not noisy - the traffic has not built up great speed in the surrounding roads. It may be worth checking maps in advance to understand the one way system but I found the signs for the Applegarth easily enough.

Stayed here for three nights in July. Excellent position for exploring Stratford. Room was very nice and comfortable and breakfast superb nothing too much trouble. As for the "old man" well he couldn't do enough to help out and went out of his way to help with things. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone. Hope to be back for a longer stay in the future.Very nice birthday break.

I have just returned form my 22nd stay at The Applegarth. The reason I keep staying here is it is very handy as it is so close to the theatre and the town centre. It is very clean, they provide everything you need and it is so reasonably priced. Peter the Manager is always very helpful and cooks extremely good poached eggs, I wish I could cook them like that!!. You get a freshly cooked breakfast and a choice of fresh fruits, cereals and yogurts and you are never kept waiting. I would never look into staying anywhere else when I visit Stratford as I could not be happier with The Applegarth.

This B&B is in a perfect location with free off road parking. Clean and friendly with a great breakfast. Our room was large with twin beds and seating. Plenty of tea coffee and biscuits provided plus free wifi. Would recommend to anybody.
