“Comfortable hotel, well situated for exploring Stratford”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Stratford for one night in August 2013. Our room was very nice indeed, clean and large, with a separate seating area with sofa, table etc. (I'm not sure if we'd been upgraded)

The public areas of the hotel were all very nice, and breakfast was good.

Staff were very friendly and helpful (although reception needs more staff)

The hotel is very well positioned, only 5 minutes walk to the centre of Stratford. The hotel has its own car park, with very reasonable rates (£5 for a one-night stay).

Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wishing to visit Stratford.

It does sound like you were treated to an upgrade to one of our Qstar rooms delighted that you loved it! Reception has been very busy and I am pleased to advise we have a new member of staff joining the team next week. Sincere apologies for any delay that may have been experienced.

I booked a romantic getaway with my girlfriend as a surprise and researched many hotels around Stratford in anticipation of our trip. The Stratford QHotel seemed an obvious choice, with reviewers citing its cleanliness and good service.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly and helpful receptionist whom simply could not do enough to help! We were directed to our room, which was incredibly spacious and clean, kitted out with a huge bed and modern bathroom! We were immediately impressed. We had booked to have dinner at the hotel and what a lovely dinner it was! A welcoming dining room was he perfect setting for a romantic meal, where a lavish selection of dishes ( which could be mixed and matched off the a la carte and set menu) were on offer. Service was exceptional and all our needs were catered for! We headed in to the Stratford town centre for a few drinks before heading back for a quick night cap and a very good nights sleep!

The next morning a superb breakfast variety was on offer and there were options that would satisfy anybody. A lovely cooked breakfast set us up for the day!

I was genuinely disappointed that we had only booked one night at the Stratford - we enjoyed our wonderful night away and the venue lent itself perfectly to having a quiet and relaxing weekend!

I would recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Stratford and we will be returning on our next venture back!

Thank you for a lovely stay!

This hotel is in a good location for the town centre. its a few minutes walk away.
We paid 89.00 for a one night stay for bed and breakfast and found this to be really reasonable..
I would Definatley recommend staying Here as the rooms are clean, bright and roomy..
I will certainly be staying there again if we go to stratford.

Hotel is in a great location - just a few minutes walk to Shakespeare's Birthplace and the centre of Stratford - couldn't be better placed.
The rooms are large (at least ours was) and well appointed. Bathroom was modern and spotlessly clean.
There was a great choice of breakfast items to suit all tastes.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful, particularly the gentleman who showed us to our table for breakfast (Doug I think). He explained the 'system', showed us to our table and organised tea and coffee. We went for breakfast early so we could head off sightseeing, and I really don't know how he managed to be genuinely pleasant and cheerful so early in the morning!

One minor 'niggle' (although it certainly won't stop us staying here on our next visit). There's a £5 per day car parking charge. I'd much rather hotels simply added the charge to the daily room rate. The hotel would have still offered great value and the issue wouldn't have arisen.
This isn't the only hotel in Stratford that charges for parking so it's wise to check. Perhaps there are 'operational' reasons they need to do this?

Visited this hotel for a trip to the races. We had last stayed there 10 + years ago. What an improvement.

Check in was easy, and the room fabulous. Well decorated and big (we had selected a big room). Bathroom with two basins was lovely. Top marks for having fresh milk in the fridge, instead of the awful UHT pots. Breakfast was varied and plentiful and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble.

Only point I would make would be to serve breakfast until 10 during the week, not 9.30,

Would and will return, and would recommend. After a stay in London at a 5 star hotel last week there was no comparison, Stratford Victoria Q and Stratford itself, were much better.

Having stayed here several times before we booked this hotel at short notice (48 hours) and found the only room left was one of the 'Feature Rooms' - 4 poster bed, champagne, box of chocolates, breakfast in room at no extra charge, magazines, late check out till 3pm etc etc. We paid for a dinner, bed and breakfast rate and reserved our table for 7pm.
On arrival, girl on reception was not particularly welcoming and then asked us what time we would like to eat in the restaurant! Off up to a huge room with absolutely everything you need and a massive bed. Good sized bathroom too with shower/bath. The only criticism would be the very poor television channel selection, the basic ones plus Sky News and Sports.
Dinner was handled very well by the male staff member who was very polite and attentive and the waitress who served us was really bubbly and fun. The menu was not the best we have ever seen and unable to select a starter from the set menu and mix it with the a la carte one. The fried goat's cheese was the smallest I have ever eaten! Mains were good but the sweet course was the let down. I had a banana souffle with peanut butter ice cream served on the ubiquitous slate with some black stuff smeared at one side. Some sort of dark chocolate perhaps but as it was miniscule. could not get any off the slate to taste it!!! Other half wanted more pistachio ice cream as her portion was a bit mean! We opted to pay for the extras - drinks etc - by cash which was done at reception.
Going down for breakfast and passing reception, not one of the 3 staff spoke or said good morning. Met at the desk and shown to a conference room set up as an overflow dining room as the restaurant was full. It lacked any atmosphere but the service was once again excellent and the food was good with a large selection.
And so to check out. Oh dear, how to let down an otherwise excellent stay. The same girl on the desk assisted by a male colleague who was attending to 2 other guests. She told us we owed £14 for our drinks from the dinner which came as a surprise. Explaining that we had in fact paid £18 in cash and left a large tip, the unsmiling, unfriendly girl turned to her colleague who said he would sort it for us. We handed over our ticket for the car parking and she handed us another with no please or thank you. She did not give us our invoice and despite filling in the company feedback questionnaire, no one has contacted us or sent it to us.
Ordinarily we would have star rated lower but the service at dinner was outstanding so 5 stars. Just!

Room Tip: The feature room is definitely worth the extra.

Stayed at this hotel twice on business now and have been impressed both times by the quality of the rooms and decor throughout the hotel.
Check-in desk is always a bit slow and the check-in seems a little more tedious than at other hotels but nothing too major.
Bar area and restaurant are both really nice and not too excessive price wise.
Rooms are really comfortable and modern with air conditioning and large comfy beds.

Room Tip: The gym only has a couple of treadmills and a weights bench, don't expect to do a full work out...
