Stayed for just 1 night midweek. Searched for the best deal which was £75 room only. The rack rate was £140!! NO WAY is the place worth more than £75. I decided to ring the hotel direct, they included breakfast for the same rate saving me an additional £20.
Breakfast isn't worth £10 extra per person. But then again I'm tight.
Happy with the deal.
Check in was great. Attended to by Lena who was very professional and courteous. All the rooms are low rise. No lifts. I like quiet rooms. Stayed in 165. It was a bit noisy in the morning from the corridor. But for 3 star/medium class you wont get total silence.
The outside of the hotel and public areas are well maintained. Some features in our room showed signed of age and wear/tear. Bit of paint flaking from the windows, tile grout needing attention. Nothing that i could actually complain about. remember its an old Georgian grade II listed building which has undergone lots of change over the years, from a row of houses, to a school to a hotel.
Must say the public bar, breakfast room and reception are decorated to a high standard and in keeping with the building. My favorite was the breakfast room.
The room level of fit and comfort was good. bed was very comfortable. The shower was amazing. Water was nuclear heated! Only point was it was very difficult to get the right setting for me! Shower curtain & shower head were clean. Good heavy curtains to keep the light out.
All the staff were very polite and very professional. All be it from Eastern Europe.
I wanted an ice bucket for the room, barman sorted this for me no problem. & no charge.
Breakfast was good. Instantly greeted with a waitress offering pots of tea and coffee - combination of self service buffet for the continental items. A good range of pastries cold meat and cheese. Low fat muller lights also available and fresh fruit salads. Not tinned either.
The full English is ordered at table and brought along. Self service for toast. I went for it minus the sausage and hash brown. I never trust hotel sausage - cheap catering sausage. No good!
Plate was hot. Food quality was good.
Breakfast was indeed the best part. Room was busy, staff coped, there were enough of them.
On the whole, Id definitely stay there again should i be in Stratford. The hotel is literally 300mtrs from Sheep Street, 400mtrs to the RSC.
A good value medium class hotel with good service. And, Im sure if you had a problem with the room or any other issue, the staff would sort it out for you!
