“Quality control in question”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

Second time I have been since revamp. Ambience good - nice pub & staff are very nice. On My first visit the meal (steak) was excellent. However this time not so good. Had T bone which was £19 but it was cut to thinly & a little chewy. Chips were undercooked with may bring hard. Complained & to be fair they brought some more out, unfortunately these were not a lot better. They did give us two free drinks to compensate. Also had 'homemade 'banoffe bettert say home assembled pastry (commercialy supplied I think) was awful so hard you could hardly beak it! However filling was ok. To be fair my partners Rib eye was very goid but her chips were also poor Thought meal was well under par for a 4 star & steak expensive for what it was. Not impressed. Will however give it one more try as everyone has an off night

“COLD FOOD :-(”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

We booked a table here after friends recommendations.
Never again.....
We booked a table for 3 in the restaraunt for 6 oclock.
We we were given a tiny table by the doors to the toilets.
Not a good start. Father-in-law asked if we could be moved because he didnt like the table.
They did move us to a lovely table but we were told we would have to leave the table by 7-30 as it was booked? I didnt want to rush my meal & by now it was 6-15!!!!!
We ordered our starters & disappointed with these.
Scallops & parma ham..... Couldnt taste the scallops
Pate.... Very disappointed didnt have any taste? Didnt taste like homemade?
Mussels... Very small mussels & no taste to the sauce that came with them.
Ok now for mains......
Steaks are the speciality so cant go wrong with these.....
Oh dear....
1 x 16oz ribeye with chips
1 x 10oz ribeye with chips
1 x mixed grill

Both ribeye steaks & chips were COLD & steaks over cooked.
Mixed grill slightly over cooked but my partner ate it
Both steak meals went back & we were told that they had sent out the wrong meals to us & they were replaced with fresh hot meals.
They were nothing amazing though I have to say.
We looked at the dessert menu & nothing really inspired us so came home early & had coffee at home.
We certainly wont be visiting again & Im afraid wont be recommending it to anyone.

“first and last”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

having read all those nice reviews on website we decided to dine at Broom Hall inn. first impressions were good - nice, lively bar, staff - not so sure - we were not given any option if we wanted to go straight to table or have drink in the bar - we had to wait in the bar even though we booked table at 6 pm and were expecting to sit down at 6. reason for it was that staff was having their tea in restaurant at that time. fifteen minutes later we were shown to restaurant where staff was still there, as we sat down they quietly disappeared. our table was just next to staff cupboard so every now and then people were coming in and out with giggles or gossip exchange - that`s what you really want to hear when you are dining! in regards to food - could`n be more disappointing. scallops wrapped in parma ham with salad garnish - way overcooked, no thoughts or ideas on the plate at all. Sea bass even worse... presentation like at granny`s dinner party. big bowl of veg put mindlessly together sunk in something i couldn`t recognize by taste. was told it was ratatouille - tasted more like plum chutney, with texture of baby food! new potatoes came dry so i asked waitress for little bit of butter and received cheap butter spread - lovely... fish itself bland, couldn`t taste any garlic as it said on the menu, sat on bed of salad garnish same as i had with starter - bit more imagination... Such a waste of good fish! all in all i think that chefs need to put bit more effort as at the moment food is lacking much on flavor and execution. money wise - when it comes to food we don`t count pennies but our meal wasn`t worth half of what we paid. Very disappointed as we were so looked forward to dining in this place
