My first time at a Ramada hotel, What a disappointment I have read bad, unbiased and unfair reviews on most hotels but for this one the reviews were so right.
Stayed for one night for a business trip had training and expo to attend. At checking I advised the check in receptionist that I had read some pretty poor reviews about the hotel (the receptionist replied you are not the first). I arrived in my room which I was told was an executive room to be fair it was pretty basic but bearable after a long day I was looking forward to room service and an early night.
After some searching could not find the room service menu so I thought I would ring reception except there was no phone (4 star?) (Clearly rooms not being checked properly by housekeeping). Back to reception, receptionist explains that the rooms don’t have a room service menu in (so how do you order room service?) Reception then decided I should move to another room so she allocated another before asking her colleague if that was a good one. She then went to have a look to check the room was ok while I waited in reception; she came back because she could not find the room! Went back again and come back to say she thinks it’s ok in the meantime the other receptionist took my room service order.
The second room was a little nicer than the first had clearly just been refurbished but just has very cheap feel to it. The wire from TV mounted on the wall just hung and furniture had an MFI feel to it. No control for the heating which was very annoying and explained why the Window was left open on a night when it was below freezing outside.
Room serviced arrived around 20 minutes later with cutlery the waitress ran off to say she was going to get some before I had chance to ask for Salt & Pepper she had to make another trip.
The wifi at the hotel was acceptable but did drop out quite often. My phone had run out of battery and I wasn’t surprised that the hotel was not able to help. Another guest asked for a cash machine and was told 5 miles was the nearest (wow!)
Breakfast was pleasant and probably the best part of the trip.
I did not enjoy this hotel, I think it would make a good 2 star hotel for truckers and drivers but is simply not ready for the business world.
