“Fantastico!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

We have visited this restaurant several times over the last few months and can honestly say it has to be the best restaurant in the north east!!!! Nothing is a bother and the staff are exceptional, especially Fernando who runs the place like clockwork. The food will speak for itself and I can highly recommend the Sunday lunch. All in all a great place......

“Nice Airy feel, great service - outstanding Ribs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2014

Headed to Piccolinos for the first time for my sisters birthday. Group of 6.
We sat at the bar and had a drink while we looked and then ordered our food. The restaurant wasn't overly busy but the service was good. Staff helped us transport ourselves to the table when everything was ready.
My Ribs in BBQ sauce starter was one of the best I have had - and I spent a year in Texas !!
Everyone had a great time and the staff even came out and sang with a cake we'd dropped off earlier in the evening.
Great venue, lovey meal, excellent service.

“Excellent Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2014

WE only come here occasionally - we aren't often in the area, but it is an excellent restaurant. The food is lovely and the service outstanding. The place is very stylish and it accommodates groups very well, as well as couples out for a romantic meal. Excellent cocktails as well as drinks list. Not the cheapest place around, but in the top range for food, service, ambiance and general quality of night out.

“nice early new yeara eve meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014

The table was booked by sis in law fr 3pm who at the time had an 8 week old baby and we had a 12 week old baby, we were going to the winter festival and decided to eat before hand.

The staff made us very welcome and were very attentive! My wife is breast feeding and we asked if this was ok and they said it was and gave us a discreet table .

My only slight moan was that whilst we was eating the band was setting up for the evening do and the speakers were placed right beside whilst they did there sound check however i can understand that needed to be done and it did not spoil our meal it may have done some others,

The meal was very nice and the service was good

can recommend it if going to see some thing in Newcastle we

“Unfortunately - Not great!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

We went to Piccolinos as part of the New Year Celebrations.

I've been there on numerous occasions in the past, always been impressed, so felt this was a safe option on New Year's Eve .... Unfortunately .... Not really the case!

On booking, there was nothing to suggest it was a set menu ..... never mend .... set menu it was .... And quite limited!

Fred our waiter was great (He tried to save the day!!) ... but the food wasn't!

Soup starter was cold .... never mind! We ate it. Ribs were even colder! Prawns were AOK!

Main courses came - 4 steaks which were not large by any stretch of the imagination, and again stone cold. All these small steaks came with was a tiny basket of chips ... and that was it! Fred came to the rescue and got us some more chips! At least the 1 duck main course we had was very nice .... apparently.

Desert was again a disaster ..... 4 chocolate fondant deserts which were literally stone cold when they arrived with almost completely melted ice cream (The irony!). Again Fred save the day and took them back. 4 completely underdone chocolate deserts did come eventually, but at least they were warn.

And some nice flat champagne to see us off at the end of the evening ... Oh for some fizz!

In a nutshell .... not a great experience at all!

Food was dreadful - And I know it was New Year's Eve, but it still wasn't packed .... I'd say a busy Saturday night.

Top Tip - In future - Don't charge your faithful customers £50 for a dreadful meal - Why not push the boat out .... Pay a couple of your other chefs double time to come in to support the rest of the team to actually get the food prepared, properly cooked and out OK!!
