Visited this restaurant for my sons 18th birthday, there were 4 of us in the group, visited on a Thursday evening. First the good points, booked on-line and got a confirmation e-mail very quickly. When we arrived at the restaurant it was very quiet, so perhaps not necessary to book at all on a Thursday. The restaurant itself is very stylish, nicely laid out, warm and comfortable. We were seated straight away and attended to promptly.
Now the bad...........unfortunately the staff are very quiet, I didn't find them surly as someone else has stated, more uninterested, menus were handed over, no attempt at engaging us in conversation at all. Orders were taken, we all decided to have the Gourmet dinner, it would after all make life easier. The starters arrived, these were quite tasty, slightly unimaginative but hot and we ate the lot. It started going downhill somewhat with the mains, for £30 a head we expected colourful, vibrant, food with perhaps coriander or yoghurt or cream etc drizzled on the top. What we actually got was 4 bowls of brown curry, 2 bowls of brown side dishes, rice and nan breads. The food was Ok, just OK, nothing inspiring or exciting, in fact they all tasted remarkably similar, they were dull. We ate our meals, there was nothing wrong with them, however I expected much much better from this establishment. Dessert was interesting, nicely presented, unlike the mains, coffee was very nice. We also had the house red which was pretty good.
There was minimal interaction from the staff, however the chef did come out to see all the guests which was nice, we did not tell him of course of our disappointment, there seemed little point.
All in all disappointed with this restaurant, it looks the part, classy and elegant but the food really lets it down, perhaps this was an off night, however based on our visit we will not be going back.
