We stayed at the Adelphi hotel Jesmond Newcastle, got the best ever GEORDIE welcome from Maxine the owner and her staff, it is in easy reach of the city of Newcastle where there is a huge selection of cafe's restaurants and night clubs, prefered the Quayside hope spelling is ok.
We had a brilliant laugh with her father and brothers what geniune people they are. Maxine works her fingers to the bone never stopping, yet still manages a smile no matter when you bump into her. The mornings are the best first thing errr i don't mean as we open our eyes i'm on about breakfast time serves up a great full English.

I've read a couple of moaners about this hotel the only thing i can agree with is it is not a hotel but a brilliant bed and breakfast guest house.
Maxine and co take no notice of the very rude moaners i get the feeling that if they approached you with a problem instead of hiding behind a review after the even you would have sorted there problems out.
When these moaners decide to create a bad review instead look at your bill mine was £60 per room per night and my room was very comfortable and CLEAN, go and check out the 5 star plus but then don't moan when you get the huge bill, i bet you will be running back and i hope the owners remember you and tell you where to go.

I rest my case.
See you again soon.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Stayed at the Adelphi yet again 5th visit the negative reviews given to this hotel are simply unfair, these people should book into 5 star accommodation and pay the price instead of slagging off a hard working honest business and expecting 5 star facilities for £60 per room per night. We have stayed in three different rooms over the years and have found them extremely comfortable and VERY clean. Maxine is the owner and over the years we always are welcomed and its made to feel like a second home. The friendliness of Maxine and her family cannot be duplicated any where else as far as i can see.
Breakfast was very good with a selection of cereals and full English cooked to your liking.
The position of the Adelphi is excellent just a short walk to Jesmond where there is lots of trendy bars and restaurants. Newcastle city centre is a short taxi ride away and we have had some excellent nights there. We also thought the position of the Adelphi was good away from the noise of the main street of Jesmond, we had no problem sleeping.
SO WHingers book into city centre 5 star plus hotels, but remember they won't be £60.

Well done Maxine and co keep up the great work and don't change a thing you don't need to.
As far as one reviewer complaining of childrens toys outside what was there problem just proves its a family ran establishment.
Parking we thought would be a problem but Maxine lent us a parking pass.

would definitely go back one day, rooms clean and tidy,me and a few mates stayed there on a stag weekend and had the top level triple room which was great.breakfasts were exellent, proper home fry ups or cereals (or both) and tea, coffee and juices.taxis into the town were fairly cheap especially when you are sharing the fare.the staff at the adelphi were great and always helpfull and polite.just wanna thank the owners for such a good stay and hope we didnt werent too much trouble : )

The Adelphi is located in Jesmond which is a nice area with bars and next to the gorgeous Jesmond Dene but if you are a tourist visiting Newcastle the location is not ideal. It's only a 20 minute walk from the city centre but remember that it does rain a lot round here...

The house is okay, our room was actually furnished very nicely and had a large bathroom (with shower) but unfortunately it was situated above the kitchen, which meant that as soon as the owners started to prepare breakfast early in the morning, we woke up - not just because of the noise, but because of the smell of fried eggs too!

Service was okay but not overly welcoming - when we arrived it was just a curt 'what is your name?' and then 'here's the key to your room'. Breakfast might be allright if you fancy full English but continental options were minimal (and fruit inedible).

And no, there was no pen or letter paper in the room....

For 60 quid a night you can't complain, though.

If its your first time in the city, hop in a taxi. We've stayed before and it is in between Jesmond and West Jesmond Metro stops (West being a touch closer). This time we stayed 2 nights. Our room was small but comfortable. We had a TV with Freeview, Radio alarm clock, hairdryer and tea & coffee making facilities plus a separate shower and bathroom. Breakfast (8.30 to 9.30) was a good variation of choice. The Hosts are lovely people and if you need any help they will point you in the right direction. If you are not prepared to pay the astronomic prices for a Hotel in the city centre then this is a good choice. £60 per room per night at time of writing, with the Metro being £1.40 from Newcastle to either of the Jesmond stations.

These reviews are strange as one has to wonder what people expect when they book a hotel.

This is a small Newcastle B&B in the student area of Jesmond.

If you are looking for a marble and stainless steel reception, a gym, a pool, a spa, a minibar, top class restaurant, valet parking, a bell hop, or similar then this is not the place for you.

If you want a good central position, a good nights sleep, a good clean room, a good breakfast and a friendly welcome then this place is ideal. And it has free wifi.

All for £65 B&B.

Please keep things in perspective.

Food was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for Maxine and her family. Room very clean and comfortable and the location was just right - close to the bus and metro and not too far to walk into the city. Very quiet and peaceful. I feel I picked just the right place for me and I have already booked again for myself and my husband. I feel I have made new friends with this family and would definitely recommend it.
