“One night stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Stayed for one night with my partner here and was very impressed. We ate here three times: from the all day bar menu, the house menu dinner and breakfast and all of the meals were very good. Although not the cheapest menus, the food - especially the bar menu items, were very generously portioned, and very tasty. The service was also excellent, wine and water glasses weren't empty for long and the waiters and waitresses just the right side of attentive.

The room on floor 2 was just the right size (any smaller and it would have been too limited), well furnished and decorated and with a very nice bathroom and walk in shower. CD/DVD player and a relatively well stocked DVD library was good, and the bed lovely, clean and comfy.

All in all, a secluded, professional and courteous hotel set in a lovely building and beautiful surroundings.

“Small hotel big on service and quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

Stayed overnight with evening meal. Room was well appointed with every facility you could require. Staff were extremely friendly and efficient in all areas from reception to bar staff and especially restaurant staff. We enjoyed the choice from the newly introduced evening menu and the food was excellent. Breakfast in the garden room was also of a high standard with so much choice from the buffet and the full English was superb. Morning coffee in the lounge as most enjoyable. Overall a very positive experience and would most certainly return in future. My compliments to Management and staff.

“A little piece of heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

This was the most fabulous hotel in a fantastic location - I lived in Jesmond 20 years ago and to return here and stay in such luxury was a real treat. The rooms were lovely, the food served in the restaurant was delicious. I will not hesitate to come back and would recommend it highly. A little piece of heaven. And only 10 minutes from the city centre.

“Extremely comfortable and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

I have started to stay here whilst on business because I find it really comfortable and welcoming which is always a benefit when one is travelling alone. As i travel so much it is really nice to stay somewhere that doesn't free like a business hotel.
The staff are all really friendly and helpful, the rooms are well decorated and equipped and the bar area with the open fire is really cosy and relaxing.
On each occasion I have eaten in the bar and the food was excellent.

“Luxury, relaxing, so comfortable ..........”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

We stayed for a long weekend as part of a long overdue treat. The service started way before arrival. Reception and booking staff top marks all round. On arrival a lovely greeting and such an easy uncomplicated check in. The room was spotless, warm, spacious and comfortable. The bathroom also with it underfloor heating, huge shower with great pressure and lashings of hot water was faultless.
This was a weekend away but we struggled to leave this lovely hotel. Lunch on the decking with the carefully maintained garden of flowers and herbs, both utilised in the hotel and kitchen, was the perfect antidote to a long journey. A walk was essential down the Dene only a short distance from the hotel which takes you right to the Tyne or a short circuit as we did is perfect.
There are loads of places to eat but we opted for the restaurant both nights. A vegetarian tasting menu with locally grown produce supplied to the hotel. Vegetables prepared in such a away that awakened the taste buds. For example hay flavoured ice cream sounds unusual - try it. We loved it.
The staff are professional and will happily help with anything from menu and wine choices to local knowledge or general chat. What I mean is that they are unpretentious and comfortable in their environment. I mention this as it seems a rare quality in so many places.
Definitely planning on a return visit.
