Stayed for one night with my partner here and was very impressed. We ate here three times: from the all day bar menu, the house menu dinner and breakfast and all of the meals were very good. Although not the cheapest menus, the food - especially the bar menu items, were very generously portioned, and very tasty. The service was also excellent, wine and water glasses weren't empty for long and the waiters and waitresses just the right side of attentive.
The room on floor 2 was just the right size (any smaller and it would have been too limited), well furnished and decorated and with a very nice bathroom and walk in shower. CD/DVD player and a relatively well stocked DVD library was good, and the bed lovely, clean and comfy.
All in all, a secluded, professional and courteous hotel set in a lovely building and beautiful surroundings.

-
A grand house with contemporary style, a leafy setting near the heart of the city. Jesmond Dene House is neither a townhouse nor a country house hotel. It's simply 40 well-designed bedrooms and suites in a richly historic building offering understated luxury and rather good food. Overlooking the wooded valley of Jesmond Dene, the privately owned hotel guarantees peace, escapism and a refreshing change. Newcastle's city centre, however, is only a five-minute drive. The hotel recently received 4 red stars and the AA Hotel of the Year 2008-2009.
