“How can anyone complain about a Premier?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

Knowing Newcastle quite well,I would still rate the Quayside as a good choice of area to stay even if it's not the current choice of the Young and the Beautiful. The Premier Inn on the Quayside is located almost under the Tyne Bridge, fantastic location for bars and restaurants and at best a ten minute walk to any chosen nightlife scene. Book it early for unbelievable value(£20 a night??) and don't expect it to be Malmaison or Hotel Du Vin. To those who would complain about hearing doors slam at almost midnight and finding a curly on the bathroom floor,I would suggest earplugs and a Brazilian.

I stayed in this hotel for almost a week. Overall experience was good. Staffs were approachable and helpful. Ensuite standard room is really spacious for 2 people. Color TV, Tea/coffee/Milk/Sugar Sachets, electric kettle, hair dryer. Internal telephone etc were there in the room . Good quality bedding were found. Rooms were well maintained and regular cleaning were done.

This property is located close to Quayside. The Millennium bridge and Sage is just a walk away. There are many good pubs and restaurants around. Must say, an Ideal location to explore Newcastle City. You have frequent bus access as well as Newcastle Central Station is nearby.

I would highly recommend this property

The hotel is on the Quayside and the walk up and down the banks of the Tyne in dusk/ evening offered a spectacular vista. Location aside - a £4.50 taxi from the station or a 10 minute walk - the hotel offers very much what the Premier brand says on the tin. Hassle-free booking, check-in/-out procedures plus the very comfortable bed and plenty of pillows as seen in the ads and a priority for me. Had problems trying to get the room and bathroom up to a decent temperature on cold winter night. Breakfast was a good buffet - enjoyed the fresh fruit selection - but the scrambled egg had died the usual death under the lights. Good idea to offer poached eggs cooked from scratch. No newspapers available to buy or free to read over breakfast. Was seen on my way by a member of staff who took me out and down the street to make sure I set off in the right direction.

Room Tip: ask for view over river.

I cannot fault this hotel for the price. Double room, very comfortable king size bed. We were at the back of the hotel and had very little disturbance from the nightlife.Cannot comment on the breakfast as at £8.25 felt it was on the steep side. Had a brilliant large bacon sarnie from the Sunday market outside for less than £2. Great location close to some good pubs and restaurants

I stayed for 2 nights. On the 1st night the temperature kept resetting itself even though I kept turning it up. The one small radiator in the bedroom did not warm the room. There was no heating in the bathroom at all which made the facilities unbearable to use. In the morning I complained and was told there was an issue with the heating resetting itself and was offered another heater for the room, but was told nothing could be done in the bathroom. An additional heater was provided, but it wasn't switched on when I returned to the room! Wifi price was god. Restaurant was poor quality food and the service was neglectful.

I booked this place on the Internet, and when I walked through the front door I nearly walked out again. There was a hen night all dressed as 'wally' and a guy in a baby grow.

However the lady behind the counter saw the look of terror on my face and put me in a room on the 4 th floor away from all the parties and i am eternally thankful to her.

Clearly it's an old building but it has its own charm. Amazing staircase as you look down. Rooms are run down but for the price, it's ok.

Staff are really friendly, not sure how with all the drunks around.

Great location.
