I have just stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and was impressed by the friendliness, cleanliness, hospitality and catering I received during my stay. The rooms were fresh and clean and a pleasure to stay in them. They contained everything fo ra short stay, ironing board and iron, hairdryer, spacious room etc.

Over the years I have had the privilege to stay in many hotels throughout the UK and I can honestly say I have never before encountered a hotel as friendly from the receptionist as we booked in to the cleaning staff, to the catering staff, bar staff et al nothing was too much. All the staff seemed to enjoy the job they were doing and they did it with a smile and a 'hello'.

A short drive into Newcastle and close to the Metro Centre - Would definitely stay again.

“Excellent place to stay”

The Tulip is a new build hotel just off the A1 and on the south side of the Tyne from Newcastle.

They've done a really good job with the place.

Rooms are very spacious, flat panel TV's and duvets (yay!!)

Public areas are contemporarily styled and the staff are pretty much on the ball.

Free wireless internet throughout the hotel, and if I'm in that part of the world, I'll definately be going back.

Stayed for one night visiting friends and for a shopping trip. This hotel is good value, relaxed, modern and stylish. Staff are friendly and really helpfull. Rooms are big clean and comfy though the double bed seemed smaller then norm (not being overly critical it was between a single and a double in size). Yes the sink is in the room but the rooms stylish design insured it was not an eyesore. Not sure why the bed or sink is designed like this as there is tons of space. However the rooms are really comfortable. Power shower is a huge plus. Bibo bar and restaurant offers a dinner menu which has a decent & varied selection. It's fair to say the food was by no means mind blowing or homemade, which is the case in many similar establishments, but we certainly enjoyed our meal. The restaurant provided excellent service in pleasant & relaxed surroundings. Its location is about 20 mins from Airport and city. The Metro Shoppping Centre and a retail park are 5/10 mins drive away and both have ample shopping (Like you could easily spend all day in the Metro and still not see it all). We did have our own transport but there is a taxi service available from Reception. Realisticly walking is out of the question. If you expected to be in the heart of the city then you will be disappointed. If your prepared to stay out a little from the city then your sure to have a perfect stay for shopping, business and visiting Newcastle. Rates are some of the cheapest in Newcastle maybe because the city is not on your door step but it ain't far away either. Breakfast was not incl as we checked out early but the price was a reasonable £8.50 extra. We felt very welcome and enjoyed our stay. We would stay again.

“Good weekend”

Premier Inn Newcastle Team Valley

Nov 20, 2006

We spent 2 nights at the Tulip Inn during Novembr 2006. It's a good, clean hotel with lovely large rooms. Reception staff were very pleasant and helpful, infact it would be fair to say all the staff were the same. Only problem we had was that smoking is only allowed on the 7th floor, which as non-smokers should not have been an issue for us, however despite requesting a non-smoking room we managed to arrive on the only smoking floor, I would like to think that had the hotel not been fully booked they would have moved us!!! Breakfast buffet was adequate and again the staff were good, not many tables left dirty for long. The hotel is not situated in Newcastle City Centre, it's in an industrial estate in Gateshead and unless you're looking for the city centre to be on your doorstep then it's not a problem. We drove to the Metro Centre and it only took 15 minutes, it would have been much less had there not been an accident on the A1 just before our exit junction. At night the helpful reception staff booked a taxi for us which was there before we were even able to get comfy in the lounge. The taxi took us right into Grey Street in the heart of the city at a cost of only £6. On the whole a nice weekend and we would definitely use this hotel again for another visit to Newcastle.

Had to travel to Newcastle for work at short notice and found this hotel on the internet. Contacted them and got five rooms at a very reasonable rate. Had had no reviews or advice about the place and decided to give it a go. The hotel itself was great. Fantastic service, well appointed rooms and very, very clean. The rooms were well equipped and very modern and the rest of the hotel was of similar standard. Food in the hotel was good, the staff were courteous and all in all it was a pleasureable experience staying here.

The hotel is outside the city itself, in an industrial park, but there were places to eat & drink within easy walking distance. Failing that taxis were readily available to take you into Newcastle itself with an average fare being about £6 into town and £9 out. Not too bad at all.
