“Just needs a little TLC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

At first we thought we were in a Weatherspoons, both decor and menu are very similar, we called in as menu outside was reasonably priced compared to the neighboring eateries. As far as the food is concerned we could not fault it, my wife had the gamon steak, and l went for the mixed grill both cooked to perfection. Our only criticism is this place when not full of revellers or sports fans looks a bit shabby considering the area it is in. It is full of large tv's and speakers of all sizes that are dotted all over the place. The furnishings are frayed and stained and could do with some refurbishment, which is a shame as it is good to see these old pubs still surviving when tastefully done. If you want good food at a reasonable price and your not bothered about the surroundings, on the Quaside this will suffice.

“One star is one too many!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Staff were friendly enough but, oh dear that's about where it ends. Tried several chairs and all had loose legs suggesting that they were either too old or had been thrown around the pub on a regular basis, (possible on wild weekends), only went there because it's about the only pub in central Newcastle that has Sky sports and serves food, and to be honest I use the word food reluctantly. Everything was overcooked, a medium rare steak was actually medium incinerated, and the chicken in my burger was almost inedible. In our group, 3 out of 4 had stomach problems the following day. This is one place near the Newcastle quayside that should be avoided at all costs.

“Perfect Pub Grub!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

We couldn't handle any more hills in Quayside so the Akenside traiders was ideal. First place in Newcastle that actually served Nachos! Food was great and the guys behind the bar were friendly enough.
