We were looking for a spacious room to stay in for one night while attending a gig at The O2 Academy and that is what we got. The hotel turned out to be further away from The O2 than I thought but this was because my other half who claims to have a sense of direction in Newcastle said "Oh yes that's close" when I booked on line and then said once we arrived that another hotel would have been closer.

Anyway back to the hotel it's self. There is no actual car park so you have to use the private secure multi story across the road, which works out at quite good value if you stay for more than twelve hours. The staff were friendly and efficient. They checked us in and answered a few questions that we had. The room was clean and well presented. The only thing that confused us what that the sofa bed was made up (which we did not ask for) partly blocking the door when we entered the room. We had to fold it back and put the bedding on top. The shower/bathroom was huge and again spotlessly clean. You can stay in bed until ten if you are not having breakfast. Which was great for hangovers! Or for an extra charge you can extend your check out time to noon. Which we didn't have to do but the option in a city hotel was nice.

Clean, comfortable and has a hotel feel to it that can be missing in similar priced hotels. Nice wild boar and chorizo burgers. It was quiet during the week but the bar was filling up with lively hen and stag parties as we left on Friday evening.

Room Tip: Top floor quieter apparently

Stayed two nights for a conference at the hotel, unfortunately a Friday and Saturday. Conference facilities good, free wifi, free tea and coffee and a nice dinner on the first evening. The hotel was cold though, very over air-conditioned and we sat in fleeces and jackets all weekend despite fiddling with the climate control. Rooms very standard but comfortable enough, bathroom functional but old and the smallest bath towels i have ever seen, like drying yourself on a flannel!
The bar was OK but had three TV screen blaring out sport and several raucous stag/hen parties made it unsuitable for a quiet drink before dinner. Can't imagine why so many stag/hens in the bar at those prices either, bars in town must be cheaper and at least have some atmosphere!
I had read on TripAdvisor about the weekend parties but had no choice of hotel and found it very intimidating at times. I got into a lift to go up to my room on the 6th floor and seven very drunk men piled in after me and continued to make rude and unnecessary remarks about me all the way up. Very unpleasant. The hotel does seem to try and contain the parties to the first and second floor but I was woken at 3am on the 2nd night by a group of men loudly playing football in the corridor outside my room.
I guess stag and hen parties have to go somewhere but it's a shame they can't behave in a socially acceptable way, the hotel is pretty nice but book there at your peril on a weekend and don't take the kids.

Room Tip: As high as possible to avoid the noise

We went to see Gary Barlow at the weekend but called into the Jury's inn for pre show drinks and food! The hotel was jam packed and the bar was full to the brim, clearly a popular hotel! We explained we were going to a show and would like food as soon as possible, and staff were most helpful! We waited no time at all and the food was beautiful! The helpful staff then explained Gary Barlow wasn't starting until 8.30pm in the arena so we decided to stay for more drinks! This was really helpful information! An ideal hotel to stay if visiting the arena! We shall be back!

This hotel has been recently refurbished and feels a lot fancier than other hotels around the same price range - though I think the bathrooms must still be getting renovated as mine was a little tired - but no bother. There didn't seem to be any air conditioning but the window opened - and it doesn't get hot in Newcastle anyway! The room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable as I'm guessing it was quite new. The TV actually had a fully functional digital EPG (still don't know why so many hotels still don't have this)! Staff were helpful and efficient - the bar and breakfast staff in particular were very friendly.

Unfortunately the only thing stopping me from giving it 5/5 is that the walls were very thin and I could hear the people in the next room talking throughout the night... Still, I came midweek so it wasn't too rowdy - and as I travel for work I'd come back again.

Really helpful reception staff - I had booked jury's inn Gateshead and wanted to be in Newcastle - staff sorted this for me ! Wonderful!
Room spotless - although softer pillows, weren't!! Just as well I always take my own!
Breakfast really good!
Perfect location for the Arena. Will definitely be going back!

I upgraded to a larger room and the extra was worth it. A good location for the Metro Radio Arena and a short walk from Central Station. Easy check in, nice large clean room and large bathroom good breakfast, reasonable price.
All boxes ticked. We will stay again.
