I found the rooms very small, whilst standing in the middle of the room I could either side at the samr time. The Ca park is adequete, and most of the staff where plesant except one as the TV remote was removed from my room, so beware there is a tv remote thief on the loose! To veiw the TV you have to lay on the bed as its so high up and can only veiw two channels. A small bar of soap had to last me a week I felt I was on rations! They have the WiFi facitility but only in certain areas whaich was mainly the bar! You cannot acess this from your room so if you rely on WiFi its a no no!

Not sure how many stars it has (2/3?) but you get what you pay for which was a pleasant surprise after reading some of the comments here!

The staff were helpful, my room was clean with an adequately stocked bathroom and tea and coffee and a perfectly useable kettle. Breakfast was adequate - continental included in the price with hot tea, coffee and toast provided by an amiable waiter plus a selection of fruit, yoghurt and juice.

Feels a bit like it is in the middle of nowhere (next to an industrial estate with loads of signs about guard dogs) and if I was planning to roll in late at night by myself I probably wouldn't have felt entirely comfortable but I wasn't so it was fine.

The road outside was not busy on Saturday night (there' s not much else along here for anyone to be driving to) and the metro was right opposite which was handy. My room overlooked the road and the metro and neither were noisy enough to be a bother.

It takes less than 15 minutes to get to the city centre and there's plenty of room for parking.

Didn't use the restaurant or bar but they looked adequate though quiet - it's easy just to get the metro into town for food so not a huge issue.

If you just want a place to say for a night or 2 to spend your days busy elsewhere then it's fine. If you want a bit of a holiday then probably stay somewhere with a more lively neighbourhood!

Sep 10, 2009 | Trip type: Friends getaway

I stayed here for one night with friends before starting the Hadrian's Wall walk in the morning. It was a dismal start, and would have been a horrible end to the holiday had we been walking in the other direction. The area is anonymous and dead, the hotel shabby-looking from the outside, and very basic on the inside. I have to say that the staff were friendly and helpful enough, but any hotel that thinks it's okay to include a metal and plastic stacking chair in the bedroom furnishings isn't really trying. It is at least clean. Cooked breakfast was okay but costs extra. You might think the hotel is perfectly sited for the start/end of the walk, but you'll still probably get the Metro to/from Wallsend itself, so you might as well stay somewhere less dispiriting in the city centre or further out to the coast.

Nice place with simple facilities.

there was a telly in the room, and a decent shower and bathtub.

wifi internet access is available at the bar/restaurant.

ample free parking at the courtyard carpark.

book online for a slightly lower rate compared to the normal walk-in room rates. think its about 10 pounds cheaper.

its just old, and has dis interested staff, and there are better options in tyne mouth or newcastle, and then a quick metro to the start. It probably doesnt aim at the hadrians wall walker market, but with the name its got you'd think it would. We just found it a dismal and uninspiring start for our weeks walking holiday. Not particularly good value either
