“Superb service & food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2012

We have been a number of times to Quay Ingredient for brekkie, brunch & lunch, and we have always been met with a smile and had great food. The couple that run it are charming, and service is walm without being overbearing.

The Steak sandwhich with Bernaise is a personal favourite, and great value. I always try to thank the chef on my way out, as everything is cooked to order and it is always great quality and value.

We will find another excuse to pop down and say hello soon!

“Delicious every time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

I love this tiny haunt. The food and the service are both absolutely excellent. I cannot recommend quay Ingredient enough. They need bigger premises!

“Great breakfast spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

We had breakfast here this morning, after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor. I can honestly say, the reviews do not lie. It was fantastic. They do a broad range of breakfast options as well as other cafe-type fodder (sandwiches, cakes, etc). I was pleased to see they use Pumphrey's coffee and Ringtons teas, both local brands.

My husband ordered the full English which included two pork and leek flat sausages, thick cut smoked bacon, home made black pudding, two fried eggs, sautéed mushrooms, toast, and a grilled tomato. He said it was delicious. I had a veggie option comprising two toasted crumpets, baked beans, sautéed mushrooms three poached eggs, and three grilled tomatoes. It was tasty, satisfying and filling.

In terms of development, I would like to see them offering non-pork sausages on the menu such as turkey and to cater for dietary requirements such as gluten intolerance.

It was a little cold in there too, even with the high number of customers coming and going.

If you're thinking of going, it was busy, with a constant stream of customers, even on a Wednesday morning, so make sure you get there early or anticipate a wait.

“Forget hotel breakfasts, eat here.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

We stayed the night in a nearby hotel on a room only basis and decided to have breakfast at the Quay Ingredient rather than pay the extortionate amount quoted by the hotel. It was certainly a good decision. I'm rather loathe to publish this review as the cafe has limited tables and could get overly busy by our next visit. Nevertheless, the cafe deserves praise for serving quality food and drink at very reasonable prices. Certainly the best full English I've had for some time. Beats the hotels hands down!

“Quay Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Was on shopping trip with my visiting sister, it got late in afternoon & not alot eating choices available. Restaurants closed, fast food chains busy although not an option & we did,nt fancy pub. QI had been recommended by a work colleague, WOW Amazing. We had tiger prawns served in a choice of bread with salad & kettle chips. The dressing was beautiful. Lovely pot of tea Sis had & I had Americana coffee whilst waiting were deliberating cake choices but unfortunately declined as what we had more than satisfied. Can.t believe looking forward to busy Northumberland St again but QI is reason why & the treat that awaits
