We visited Ninos at The Gate last night, for the second time in a couple of years. On our last visit we really enjoyed our meal, but noticed a few people round about querying their bills. This prompted us to check ours and, sure enough, we'd been charged for items which we didn't have. We pointed this out and it was immediately corrected.
So, yesterday evening we had tickets to see a film at the cinema in The Gate. We decided to give Ninos another try. They have a really good deal for 'happy hour', with selected pizzas and pastas for £5.95 or a 'half and half' for £7.95, which gives you a half pizza and a half pasta. As we were both undecided on what to choose we both went for this option. I picked the mushroom and asparagus pasta, with a Bolognese pizza. My other half chose pasta with meatballs and the Vesuvius pizza. We also ordered a drink each, which we were just finishing when the food arrived. Second drinks ordered, we tucked into our food. As previously, the food could not be faulted. The pizzas have a lovely thin base and the toppings were fresh and tasty (quite hot, in the case of the Vesuvius!) Size wise, portions are very generous - no room for desserts!
So we asked for the bill, then came the feeling of deja vu. We had both worked out that the two meals and four drinks would be in the region of £24. Couldn't believe it when we looked at the bill and it was £43. We had been charged for four meals and six drinks. My husband took the bill over to the bar and asked if we could have a bill for what we had actually had. Two minutes later the correct bill arrived. Now this may just be a coincidence, not sure, but it will certainly make us think twice about returning again. Had this not happened I would have rated Ninos 4/5 out of 5, the food is lovely. My advice would be, if you go, check your bill!
