Heard about this place after reading the reviews and from recommendations. I like the gift shop which you have to enter before going downstairs and I like the cosy environment and good atmosphere. This is a very nice coffee shop and definitely my kind of place. It is a nice place to hide away from the busy streets of Newcastle.
They obviously take pride in the coffee they serve. However, I would say the service was very slow and it wasn't even that busy. It took a while before they got started on my coffee coffee after I had ordered it. The staff however were very friendly and polite.
I will definitely come back to give it another chance although it is somewhat more expensive and you get less coffee for your money than in some of the other places in the town. The shop is independently run and the coffee is sourced from a local supplier rather than a worldwide coffee brand, which means I would rather spend my money here than many of the other places in town. It definitely is a place of friends and very welcoming rather than being a faceless corporation full of busy people. This definitely puts this place high on my list.
