What do I like about it, well its in Newcastle, do not no the history of lord Grey, but you cannot miss it, when you walk around Newcasle,and there is normally people performing or entertaining around it.
right in the centre of newcastle upon tyne. loads of local shops, a few dodgy bars! right onto of a metro station.
A great place by which to navigate, close to the theatre.
Also a centre for free-speech with rallies and protests regularly posted there if you fancy that.
The travelling markets are great too, so worth a browse around those when they visit.
There is a great italian cafe down the road which I do recommend.
then theres only greys. its a wholesome pub with decent grub and selective beers. not for the connassuer but certainly for a real bloke with an apetite
If you are out with friends, or just want to meet somewhere central, well here's the place. Lots of people like to sit around it. It's bustling and right in the centre of things. There's really good shops nearby and pubs.
Its a focal point for transport . Tyneside Metro or buses . A main entrance to the well-known European shopping mall , Eldon Square, Many like to sit around the Monument . Others have political petitions and things OR leading up to it you might see a whole row full of tents selling homemade , delicious , cheeses , jams , wine , German or Italian sausages at good prices , Buy them as souvenirs or eat them before you get back to the hotel hahaha
