The hotel was nice, clean and rooms were luxurious as you would expect at the malmaison. Great night life near by.
The hotel wasn't too noisy which was good if you wanted to get some sleep In Newcastle.
Would recommend and stay again
They even posted me the shoes I left there

My sister and I visited the hotel located around a 10 minute walk (up a steep ramp- but good exercise for us youngsters) from the main shopping district in Eldon Square.
There were lovely views from the hotel on the river side, I would suggest asking for a river view room if going in a couple to maximise your experience.
The cocktail bar is superb with a fabulous range of cocktails (a little pricey- averaging around £10.75ish for a relatively small cocktail). I would suggest asking for a pornstar martini, even though it isn't on the menu. The bar staff were trained to 5* hotel standard which was fabulous and made a lovely porn star martini which, unlike some of the other drinks on the cocktail menu, seemed worth it's price tag.

The girlie package we chose was very good value we received:
1. Half a bottle of wine each (before you ask- yes we did get brilliantly drunk!)
2. Chocolates/truffles on arrival in the room (which I did dislike as they were very rich- but alright for some I suppose)
3. A 30 minute treatment ( we payed extra and upgraded to 1 hour, although the treatments were good, they spent alot of time,I felt, during the treatment trying to sell you things and offcourse at the end. Furthermore when we first walked into the spa there was nobody at the desk, however the 'relaxation' room was outstanding with fruit, water, elderflower and the most ridiculous but brilliant massaging seats I have ever came across!)
4. The room (good but with little good lighting anywhere to apply makeup, I ended up using the mirror next to the window-- the hotel is quite dark all around however I believe this is the style and some points it was slightly too dark e.g the hotel lobby but maybe it is better on a sunny day/ for a romantic trip for 2)

Plus the parking was quite annoying k wish we were told that the reserved parking is on the top floor of the block as we drive up and up slowly trying to find the 'malmaison signs'! But nevermind I had a good stay with my sister

We spent a night here for our wedding anniversary and enjoyed every minute.
We were on the Mal Inclusive deal which for £199 included, lunch, dinner, bottle of wine, tea coffee in the bar and 6 drinks. All in all it was too much and we did not use all of our vouchers. Now its not often you can say that.
We did upgrade to a corner Millennium bridge view room on the top floor and it was worth it. The room was perfect and had unrestricted views of the river and bridges. Very impressive especially at night.
Parking was easy in the multi storey a few metres from the hotel.
Check in time was 2pm and check out 12 midday so you can get your moneys worth.
Every single member of staff we met was friendly efficient and pleasant.

I can not think of a single negative comment to make about this hotel.

Some management and staff at so called five star hotels I have reviewed should visit the Mal and see how it should be done.

Well done everyone at the "Mal"

We took advantage of a special offer for a nights stay and dinner with wine. The hotel is still very good, after not staying for a while.
It is in a great location. The staff are all excellent, efficient and friendly.
The food was to really high standard and reasonably priced.
Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra and get a room view over the river and bridges.

The Mal Newcastle is in a great location on the Quayside with superb views up and down the River Tyne. Rooms very comfortable and well equipped. Very friendly and helpful staff. Hip and stylish so some people may find it a little dark in places.

Good bar and a great breakfast too! Highly recommended

Room Tip: Rooms on the right side have stunning views of the Tyne Bridge

My parents and I stayed in this hotel in July for my birthday and graduation. My parents had booked a superior room while I had opted for the standard room.

The hotel is extremely well located, right on the Quayside in Newcastle opposite the Millenium bridge. As it was my birthday, fortunately it meant that I was rewarded with a wonderful view of the bridge in a fabulous room on the second floor. My parents were also on the second floor, and their room was absolutely huge!

The rooms were immaculately clean, as were the public areas including the hotel lobby, restaurant and the Starbucks coffee shop. The toiletries in the room were of a very high quality, and the bathroom was very sleek and modern. The beds were comfortable as were the extra seats in the room, especially the chaise longue in my parents' room.

Breakfast was wonderful, we had all opted for bed and breakfast. The option gave us the continental breakfast, but we happily paid the £2 upgrade to the hot breakfast option. The eggs royale were absolutely fantastic!

All in all, the stay was wonderful, and my parents and I will most definitely be returning at some point in the future.

We stayed at the as a last minute trip, decided a couple of hours before we went. We normally stay in the village but hey now it's here. Place is amazing, looks like a London boutique hotel from the outside. Amazing bar. Restaurant and staff, just couldn't fault it at all. We are returning next weekend as the £99 deal is amazing

Fog on the Tyne? Let's hope not. Otherwise you'll miss the great view of the Tyne Bridge you get from our hotel in Newcastle city centre. But then, when you're staying at Malmaison Newcastle, it's the views on the inside that tell you your boat's come in. While you're right at the heart of Newcastle's great shops and exciting nightlife, the lure of MALBAR's legendary cocktails and the Mal Brasserie's classic dishes with a twist is pretty strong. And who wants to spend all night out on the town when one hotel in Newcastle has a whole floor with a shipbuilding theme and bathtubs you could sink a battleship in? It could only be the Newcastle Mal. ... more   less
