“not good value for money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2010

The thermostat in the shower did not work, and the room on the street was noisy at night. There was no tea or coffee in the room, and we felt it needed a makeover.

the room was small and dirty. didnt have a proper duvet, just an old blanket. tv was very old and with 4 channels only. window panes as if never been washed. but maybe not a problem as all i could see outside was a multi-storey car park. the worst was mouldy bathroom..
the lift wasnt working most of the time but you can live with that.
hotel was very noisy at night..
the only good point about this hotel is location (i dont mean the car park just next to the hotel; close to the quayside and shopping centre as well as railway station). breakfast was also ok (full english). but they should change the way they serve tea and coffee. it's a hotel and not budget accommodation for school trips...

Entertaining customers, so unsure what time I would be finished decided to book a room in this hotel for the night (Saturday)
Possibly worst hotel I've stayed in, freezing cold, tatty room, bathroom overun with mould, couldn't care less attitude of staff.

Would not recommend very dirty bathroom, room very cold, curtains dirty and hanging down, window panes cracked, hotel above night-club - very noisy, street very noisy. Breakfast good, the only saving grace!

Dirty toilet, room not vacuumed, security on door not functioning, hotel front entrance VERY hard to find. Stain on coverlet. Had not been washed for sure.
Good breakfast, but nervous because of lack of hygiene. On loud street if staying over the weekend. Good location, though. Bar was a place to by liquer, but not an actual bar.
Parking NOT free.

If you stay here request a room away from the disco downstairs and not overlooking the train tracks. The quietest rooms overlook the carpark. This is a place you book so you can drink your brains out in downtown and avoind a drink driving charge.
I stayed here Nov 9th and no heat in the room. No extra blankets. Freezing.
Beds: single sheet over plastic wrapped mattress. Pillows like sand bags.
No remote control for tv - though reception insisted there was one.
At one point years ago they spent some money on this place. Years ago.

Curtains didn't meet or touch the window sill by about 4 feet!!!!!! Shower leaked and two tiles missing which were covered by a plastic board. Big bleach stain on the carpet, no TV remote control. Kick marks on the outside of the door and the bottom of the bed didn't match the rest of it. Asked for spare pillows and still waiting. Did have a bar but had nothing in it. Room above a night club so you may as well have pitched a tent on the dance floor. No mention of this on any of the web sites that some rooms may be noisy. When we complained he shrugged his East european shoulders and said that room 6 was used alot? This was a rare treat for me and my friend and we had to leave and pay for a taxi elsewhere. It also boasted 4 stars from the English Tourist Board.....which I will be complaining to aswell
