“Very Good and Cheap”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Was at this hotel for 2 nights and my review as follows:

1) Location:
It is located behind the newcastle court, millenium bridge, at quayside area. The nearest metro stop is Manor station which is about 10 minutes uphill walk. The best way to get to this hotel is via the quayside yellow bus (just 2.10 pounds per adults for unlimited usage daily) and the bus is available from the Newcastle Central Station or at the Haymarket Bus Station etc. If not, one can walk too but it is quite an uphill walk from the hotel towards Newcastle high street.

2) Hotel Outlook and Check In:
Hotel look just like any other travelodge, good decent 3 star hotel look. Check in was fast and efficient.

3) Family Room:
The room is very spacious and comes with bathtub. Room is clean, simple and tidy. Mattress is also very comfortable to sleep on. Maybe the pillows provided are a bit flat/dated. Bathroom water supply and pressure is also very good. Overall, very good for the price we paid.

4) Wifi:
It is only free for 30 minutes.

5) Buffet Breakfast:
It was an ok spread. Probably the hotel can consider adding hash browns as one of their breakfast option. The plastic lid covering the hot food is very hot to be opened due to exposure to the warmer. Hope the hotel can improve on this before any hotel guest burn their fingers. Overall, breakfast is ok for travelodge standard.

Overall, this is a good travelodge to stay in Newcastle.

My son and I stayed at the Newcastle central travelodge for one night and found it to be an excellent place to stop if you are going to the O2 Academy to watch a concert. Room was spotlessly clean with s good heater for the chilly nights. Excellent friendly staff from the reception through too the bar. No over priced drinks either from this hotel. Brilliant !!!!!!

I stayed here on a Monday night and the room was nice and clean albeit a little walk away from reception. Breakfast was ok and the bed was comfortable. It's cheap and cheerful. The car park is next door and reasonable considering its location.

Here on business so don't really know anything about the surrounding area, as didn't get to see much of it! Hotel very clean, staff helpful. Bed and pillows were comfy. Woken very early (just after 5 am) with the bin lorry outside. Thank goodness I checked for a hair dryer before I had my shower, there was none. I understand that toiletries are not supplied, but if there is a kettle and condiments provided then a hair dryer to me is as important. I dare say if I'd gone to reception they would have given me one, bit that meant getting dressed and undressed again so didn't bother. Breakfast was ok.

Room Tip: Not on the side of the bin lorry pick up

Three of us stayed Monday to Friday.
At first we were allocated rooms on the lower ground floor. These were at the back of the building, q. dark (the windows are mid ground level) and only have showers not baths.

However, thanks to a very friendly and helpful receptionist we were moved to three rooms on the third floor. Although these also faced the back of the building with a very unspectacular view they were much lighter with baths and showers.
The rooms and were always clean, warm, well stocked with tea and coffee and nice clean towels and sheets. It was also quiet but, as there were no stag / hen parties staying at the hotel which may have contributed to this.
The bar was comfy and, although a tad on the pricey side, the staff were really nice and friendly.

A little nit pick was the smoking 'area' which was by the front door. Not a good impression with the entrance full of people standing smoking - perhaps there could be
a smoking area at the back of the building which would move the smokers, could be made a little more comfy for them and give a better first impression of the hotel's entrance.

The car park is very good value at £5 for 24hrs. However, there is no lift from there to the hotel and the way up to the entrance is very steep. If possible unload cases and passengers at the hotel before parking.

What makes this Travel Lodge a real star is its staff. Everyone was cheerful, really helpful and seemed genuinely pleased to have us as guests. Other budget range hotels please note.

Room Tip: The higher floor the better.

Great location for the Quayside! And for a gig at The Sage! Rooms clean and comfy! However access from the car park below to the hotel via the lift was not working therefore had to walk around to the front up the hill to the entrance as I am slightly disabled I found this quite bad! This was not resolved for the duration of my stay!!

Stayed here with my group of 5 friends for one of our birthday's. We had 2 family room and 1 double room. The rooms were clean and large with enough space to move around and not feel cramped. The hotel is in an idea location and we constantly walked into the centre without feeling tired. Staff on reception were very welcoming and a night member of staff made our wait for a taxi enjoyable by showing us a few magic tricks! Would highly recommend staying here especially for a night out
