“Oh dear, what happened?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

Visited Cassico again this week and sad to report that it was really disappointing :( I was wondering if it had changed hands as we have been several times before and really enjoyed it. We had what we usually have, the rib eye steak, which I must admit has been lovely in the past. On this occasion it was very ordinary, the quality of our steaks was not good, not cooked particularly well and the lovely chips of the past had been replaced by poor imposters. I ordered a portion of mushrooms and got about a tea spoon of really small mushroom pieces, reluctantly on this form it will be well down on my list of restaurants to visit in the near future.

“Worst Dining Experience in a Long Tine”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

Bought voucher through Groupon, ordered 2 Pizza's, one chicken & garlic, one Parma ham & rocket. The chicken pizza shouldn't be allowed to be called Pollo as there was hardly no chicken at all. The other pizza was just covered in rocket. I thought there would of just been a little for decoration, but it was ridiculous.
It is very overpriced, for everything, a 330cl bottle of larger costs £3.50, as does a small glass of house wine, small soft drinks are £1.95 and a bottle of house wine will set you back £12.95.
The waitress was very friendly, but doesn't understand everything you say.
Also it states on the kids menu that if an adult buys from the menu, up to 2 kids eat free, we enquired about this when we first arrived, as this would of been good if we were to go back with the kids while not using the Groupon voucher, but we were told that this only applies to ice cream, with is disgusting as it clearly states on the menu that kids eat free Monday - Wednesday and ice cream to me is not considered eating.
We will never go back to this over priced place as long as we live, and we will be telling everyone that we know how poor it is

“Food wasn't as good as expected. It's certainly not a competition for the rest of Gosforth!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013 via mobile

Lovely small restaurant, bought groupon to check it out. Definitely not coming back. Dirty wine glasses, ordered pasta dish with prawns, clams, mussels with chilli and garlic. Dishes arrived, pasta with one prawn! Two cold clams, six cold mussels and luke warm
pasta, bit bland too not a lot of flavor. Never visiting again.

“Forgotten about”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

Sadly disappointed this time. There early and restaurant quite busy. It is just a small place though (part of it's charm) so not that many tables to cover. Initial service was good but deteriorated to the point we were forgotten about i.e. not offered dessert menu had to eventually 'catch a waitress', never returned with milk for coffee so had to 'catch another waitress' and generally felt ignored after mains ordered.

Main meals were uninspired but OK, dessert was a very mean portion with aerosol cream and not offered ice cream as an option.

We thinks they'll need to up their game if they want to retain business other than Groupon customers. We will go back though as felt this may not be the typical service in Classico.

“Average food and very pricey!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

Went here before going to watch WWE so we wanted a quick meal and soft drinks. We had 2 kids meals, 2 pizzas 1 pudding and 4 soft drinks during happy hour (25% off) it cost £30! I later found out from my wife that she had a leaflet that says kids eat free if at least 1 adult eats Mon to Wed and we qualified for this. We were charged £10 for the kids meals!

The food was very average and my pizza was a bit tasteless and cardboardy. It would have been £40 if we had paid full price - I would not pay that for the quality of the food.

It's a nice restaurant with nice staff but I think pricing and quality of food let it down. We normally have Italian at Quattro Mori in Hexham and this is much better.
