“Not a nice place to stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2011

On arrival, our 'twin' room was a large double bed with two duvets on it (see the first picture) - was told that this is what half of the twin rooms are like. The bar closed at 11pm and the lights were put out in it while several customers were still having a drink. The next day at breakfast it took 20 minutes to get coffee and toast (which was cold).

Also, the toilet oposite the bar isn't out of order, it is just being used as a store cupboard.

Room Tip: If you want a twin room, make sure its a proper twin

This Hotel met or exceeded all our expectations. Reception, Staff, room furnishing and equipment all excellent as is the location together with good car parking facility. Thought Breakfast was expensive but this is now problem as there are many good cafes nearby. Now planning our next stay.

Stayed one night again but always use this hotel on visits to Newcastle. Clean, efficient service, good rooms, really could not complain at all and a very convenient location whatever you need to do.

I regularly work in Newcastle and so have stayed in all the central hotels, as well as most in Jesmond. I stayed here for the first time this evening and was very impressed. The rooms are spacious and newly renovated, in fantastic condition. There was a large walk in shower in my room, and a very comfortable bed. The room is sumptuously decorated. Whilst I was here for work I'd be happy to use this as the base for a romantic break. The room has all the little touches you would hope for, such as an in rooms safe and mini bar. There is a nice bar open late, and the hotel is a short walk from all the restaurants and amenities of Jesmond (check out As You Like It around the corner fror a nice meal, too).

Room Tip: Room 302 is gorgeous and with only one other on the same floor.

We stayed for one night and had a great stay!

We pre-paid our reservation and when I received my credit card bill, I noticed that I had been overcharged. I emailed the hotel and within 24 hours the General Manager had responded, apologised and rectified the error. Things go wrong from time to time, and when they do a good test is how the situation is handled. Full marks here!!

The hotel istelf is about a five minute taxi journey from the City Centre, and the local area of Jesmond is delightful. The hotel is on a busy road, but we didn't hear it once. We received a friendly welcome and check-in was a delight. The reception/lobby bar are clean, bright with a modern decor.

Our rooms were on the first floor facing the road, but as I said, there was no noise. As others have said the rooms are very well appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable and everything was spotless. Great bathroom amenities, although if I'm being picky the heated towel rail was awkwardly positioned above the loo and there was nowhere easy to hang your towel near the shower/bath. But that's hardly a deal breaker!!

Fratello's bar is a lovely space to enjoy a drink and the food menu looked food. We had a light snack which was lovely and well priced. Staff here again were friendly, although one of the girls could do with learning how to smile and she tended to mumble and look at you like you were an idiot, but she was generally polite and the others were nice.

We ate in Fratello's restaurant that evening and took advantage of the special deal, 3 courses for £18.50. The service was 1st class, wine was very reasonably priced (starting at £13.50 a bottle) and the food was superb. There were five of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food, it was a lovely evening all in all!!

Breakfast offered good quality products and a super selection. Again staff were friendly and very attentive.

In summary, I loved this hotel. We are already planning a return trip next year and we will definitely eat in Fratello's again.

Just returned from a brief visit to Newcastle and stayed at the Jesmond Holiday Inn. Having stayed at various Holiday Inns this was a pleasant surprise! The rooms are really well thought out with every electrical appliance you could need- including a keyboard and wireless access (free) to the internet. The bathroom was a good size with a walk in shower- which was very slippy to use, and the toilet has been placed too near to the wall! The fridge contained complimentary water, orange juice and Kitkats.Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of fresh fruit salad, cold meats, cereals, juices and hot food and the staff were attentive and friendly.
We shall definately be back!
