Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I was very concerned to hear that the room you slept in was cold. Unfortunately we are not allowed to supply heaters due to health and safety legislation. During the winter months it is true that our rooms can take a little longer to heat up but generally this take 20-30 minutes at most, then the heat regulates and stays up to temperature. Clearly this was not the case in the room you were in. I have asked maintenance to investigate to try and ascertain if we have any faulty heaters. The hotel offers unlimited 30 minutes complimentary wifi vouchers to all guests. Please note we are currently looking into offering free wifi as standard and hope to offer this service to all our guests in the very near future. Thanks you once again for your comments.

We chose this hotel as it was half way between Linlithgow and Scotton and the ladies wanted to shop. On getting to the room, at the end of a long corridor, it was to find threadbare sofa covers and a lighting system that had both bedside lights on or off! We mentioned the cover state to both the maid and the Front desk who offered us another room, but we were told that we would be moved to the noisy end if we decided to move. It turned out that this is a favourite location for hen and parties to stay before visiting clubs in Newcastle. Breakfast was awful, the sausages being virtually in edible, and of unknown parentage, the croissants were rock hard and they ran out of cups with uncleared tables. Not one to come back to, but IHG Managers should see just how shabby it is.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay. I would like to take the opportunity to apologise for the poor quality of sofa bed that was in your room. Unfortunately I do not know which room you stayed in as the details are not given however we have undertaken a quality audit on all our sofa beds to ensure that our guest furniture is to the highest quality possible. To this end we now have in place a programme of replacement for all sofa beds. We do have many different types of guests staying with us over the weekend and during the week. Newcastle is considered to be an eclectic, vibrant, exciting city to visit and is an extremely popular destination for all types of traveller. Please note all hotels in and around the city centre are at the weekend, as you correctly stated “a favourite location for hen and stag parties to stay before visiting clubs in Newcastle”. You have made no mention as to whether you were disturbed by any other guests so I am unable to comment further on this. Please accept our apologies that the standard of breakfast was not to your liking. I would like to assure you that our sausages are not of “unknown parentage” and are purchased from a reputable supplier. Once again thank you for your comments, we are constantly striving to improve our service and always appreciate constructive guest opinions.

Stayed here overnight while visiting the Metrocentre. Great location for shopping trip. Parking plentiful and free. Rooms pleasant enough although small but sufficient for short stays. Appeared clean ans well stocked with tea and coffee.Had toiletries available for free if needed. Comfortable nights sleep. Rooms could do with a ceiling light though in my opinion. Room on a high floor and to the river side so no noise what so ever. Reception staff very pleasant and helpful on arrival. Very knowledgeable on surrounding area. Choice of snacks available 24 hours from hotel or Frankie and Bennys(20% discount for hotel customers), TGI Fridays and The Skiff Inn literally on the door step.Breakfast included in price. Good choice of cereals, fruits and yoghurts. With small hot selection of sausages, beans and scrammbled egg all buffet style.Considering what some hotels charge for breakfast, this is good quality. If staying in this area for shopping again, this hotel would definitely be my first choice.

Conveniently located for the Metro Centre. Typical Express. Small bar, plenty free parking. Very expensive WIFI. Try to get a room on the river side of the hotel, the higher the better away from any road noise.
Service with a smile or with a frown? All depends who is on reception.
Choice of 3 restaurants within a few yards. TGI Fridays, Frankie & Bennys and the Skiff Inn (good bar food).

Room Tip: Go high and on the river side. Beware wifi inclusive deals. Could be cheaper paying for it directl...

I was pretty impressed with this hotel. We got it cheap, £20 per room per night but It was worth the usual £50/£60 they normally charge.
Staff were all very friendly. Room was large and clean. Breakfast was fine too
Metro Centre walking distance. The pub next door, the Skiff Inn serve pretty decent bar food.. There is also a TGI Fridays and Frankie and Bennies across the car park

Stay here quite a bit, its generally a decent hotel, beds are comfy (i find anyway) its always clean and well presented. Plenty tea and coffee in the room. The showers are good, though they do tend to get the floor wet as the curtain does not stop all the water. No baths so its shower only. The breakfast is ok, its by no means the best though. Some pastries, yoghurt, cereal, fruit, bread, the worlds slowest toaster and the hot selection of scrambled egg, beans and sausages. It is self serve and quite edible, just average though but it is included in the price so you shouldnt complain.
The TV's in the rooms are modern flat screens though most of the rooms I've stayed in the TV's have a high pitch whine when on standby, I have to unplug them as it is very annoying. The remotes are hit n miss too as the buttons are getting a bit unresponsive.
There is a railway line running next to the hotel, its not too bad, I never notice it. Its not a mainline but you can hear it.

Room Tip: You might want a room on the opposite side of the hotel from the railway line.

We visited Newcastle in late november to see relatives. This hotel was fairly accessible to where they live and so we booked it.We had expected basic but not quite this bad. We stood at reception about 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged and given a key without even a polite word of welcome. It was a busy saturday afternoon and there were several stag/hen parties in. There were even security bouncers on the door ( we should have guessed from this the cailbre of the place). The room was tired and shabby looking with marked walls and stains on the carpet. The bathroom was ok but although the towels were clean they were stained.
It was a dark room and the light switch only worked from beside the bed. Later when we got to bed I found that although the sheet was clean the base valance was covered in hairs and dead skin, utterly disgusting. We placed the stained towels around the edge to cover it as it was so late and didnt want to have the upheaval of complaining at that time. The night was not quiet, noisy doors, the lift going all night, intermittent music from various rooms and obviously the happy revellers were up most of the time. Breakfast was poor, dried burnt croissants, no eggs or sausages left, a few stranded yoghurts left over. We did not even get to breakfast late! The eating area was miniscule and no way fitting for the number of people in the hotel.
The positives were we only had to stay one night, there was lots of parking, it is near the metro centre for shopping and if you are a hen or stag you wont care whats around you if you drink enough. We have stayed in some pretty rough and ready places around the world and this certainly matched that standard. We will never stay here again

Room Tip: Check your room before you accept it
