“well worth the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

Stayed here for the weekend on a recent trip to Newcastle, for £25 a person couldn't have asked for more, clean, great breakfast and friendly staff.

15 minute walk into the city centre or only a fiver in a taxi.

Would definitely stay again if i was in the area.

Cheap, very no frills sort of place. Breakfast not good, could not eat some of the small cooked breakfast (very soggy hash brown and beans that tasted of curry??), bedroom, very hot, with no facility to turn radiator down as thermostat removed, bathroom, toilet flushed, so that was a bonus, what more can i say, shower was poor, very very weak water flow, give the staff their dues, were pleasent and polite, would i stay here again........No, pay a bit more, and please, STAY SOME WHERE ELSE........

This is a no frill b&b style hotel a 15 minute walk from the town centre and about twenty minutes to the universities
It's not in a great area but its easy to find, very reasonably priced, run by pleasant people, clean and met my needs perfectly.

The breakfast was well cooked and I enjoyed it.

This place probably would suit some people - ie price, friendliness and quality of breakfast. I'd prefer something better if I go to Newcastle again, its not that convenient for the city centre being at least a 20 min walk downhill, you certainly dont want to walk to it especially with luggage. Its also on a main road and can get noisy and thats before bodies start arriving back at all hours. A taxi from the main station should be around £5 but drivers dont appear to know the most direct route and be prepared to pay a lot more especially if you go out on the town when some drivers demand £20 before you even get in the taxi.
Manager wanted £25 per head on arrival in case of damage etc but does refund no problem.
Rooms are small but bed was comfortable and room clean.

Arrived for a one night stay, friendly welcome, clean hotel, good sized room, the hotel has a coffee shop which serves food. we had a light lunch and the food was good. However because the hotel has a coffee shop there is no tea and coffee facilities in the room, which is ok till the coffee shop closes at tea time till next morning. In the room the bedding was clean but well worn and could have done with being replaced and I could feel the springs in the bed also the bathroom door had no handle on the inside so you could not close it when you went in..
