“Style over Substance”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Cafe Royale sounds a nice place to visit and it doesn't disappoint when you arrive however the staff are very inconsistent some smiling some grunting and some just downright miserable. The coffee is very average and the pastries nothing special.

“the place I look forward to visiting most in Newcastle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

The atmosphere, the quality of food and staff are second to none. Its a more indulgent that most cafes but once you visit will want to return ... again and again. Its an unexpected find down a grey dull side street in the city centre. Sunday brunch is a perfect way to pass a lazy Sunday

“Fabulous breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

Lovely restaurant in great location by the Monument. Very tasty pastries, waffles and coffee. Scrambled eggs good, as long as you like loads of butter. Warmed up raspberry scone and pain au chocolat exquisite.
Only gripes are that quite pricey and could be slightly warmer.
Highly recommended.

“Interesting food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Have been here several times, for various occasions and with different groups of people. The food is always tasty, interesting and well presented. It is on the pricey side but on the whole is worth it. The staff are helpful and friendly, the seating area is bright and clean.

“Good food, reasonably priced and first rate service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

We held our company Christmas lunch at the Cafe Royal in Newcastle. They offered a reasonable selection of dishes and catered very well for an allergy sufferer. The price was very competitive given the festive season. They rearranged tables to suit our requirements and provided a number of staff to ensure we were all served at the same time. The food was well cooked and very well presented. We choose a different restaurant in Newcastle each year for our festive lunch and this is one of the best by far.
