“Good food, average service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014 via mobile

Went to slug and lettuce on the Quayside, Newcastle. Te breakfast was gorgeous! However it came with tea or coffee, I don't like both so I asked to change to something else. They said I couldn't change, not even for a glass of water!!! Absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!! Food came quick and was really nice. Then after our plates have been cleared, we waited half an hour or anyone to come back and see if we needed anything else. Finally a waitress come passed and I asked for the bill, she looked at me and just kept walking and totally ignored me!!! Not happy

“Would not waste my time going there again!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2014

My partner and i were visiting Newcastle for the weekend and took a walk down to The Quayside. We called in to the Slug and Lettuce for some lunch. On the way in we were met by a waitress who told us to find a table and she would find us.We noticed that all of the tables at the front of the resteraunt were reserved so we went to the back of the place and found a seat. We sat for a while waiting and no one was coming even though they could see we were waiting. In the end I went up to the bar and asked for a menu and was promptly told that we could not sit where we were to eat. I was getting angry by this time. Why was I not told that in the first place, Why were we not shown to a table where we could eat? I cannot comment on the food as we were not there long enough but The customer service was disgraceful. The person behind the bar was arrogant and not at all helpful. We were not offered any solution.

“Nice bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

Not been in the s & l for quite a while. It was a busy Saturday night, staff friendly and helpful. Drinks about what you'd expect on or around the quayside. Ladies could have done with being cleaned. The glass collectors were regularly round clearing away empties. Not too much room if you just want to have a drink. Would go back again

“dinner time drink”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

We went into the bar for a quick drink before checking into our hotel, on Wednesday 29th of Jan., The bar was quite busy, the staff were very polite and helpful so decided to come back in the evening.,We both had the steaks and 2 bottles of wine, the steaks were great and the staff again very polite and helpful, so i cannot understand the bad comments that were on here at that time, we will definitely be back again!
