“Excellent, Enjoyable Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

This is our first experience of stay within a hotel in the UK and I am delighted that we have had an excellent experience at Rooms Inn. Our room was clean, spacious and with all the facilities as promised. In addition, for a double room with en suite facilities the price is competitive. We stayed for three nights and did not experience any trouble within or with the surrounding neighbourhood. It is self catering but that is not a problem as there are many takeaways and restaurants within close range. Tea/Coffee and Ironing facilities were provided.
One of the best things about the hotel is the closeness to the town centre. You can either walk for 15-20 minutes like we did or take the number 1 bus from just outside the railway station and asked to be dropped off next to the Rye Hill campus of the Newcastle College. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel on the Westmortland Road and the bus will drop you outside railway station.
Please note that anyone taking a bus number 21 to see the Angel of the North should go to Eldon Square bus station (not Pilgrim Street as is in the maps) because we had this problem. I think it was stand G for this bus but ask at the information desk again. Thanks and I hope you have an enjoyable stay like we did.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor.

stayed there for 1 night last week. paid £37 but they put us in a superior room.the quality was unbelievable for the money we paid. the finishing off ( attention to detail) was of the highest quality. the shower room, very classy.great bed, big flat screen tv on wall. kettle with loads of drinks to choose from. the car park is very large and quiet.the location is elswick. yes it is in a council estate, but hey, i,m no snob. just come back from london where i paid £40 for a room yhat was not clean enough for rosie( my giant rabbit) . if you come to the north east, want a cheap room , with the quality of a hilton , rooms inn is the place.

Room Tip: room no 308. superb.

well all i can say is what a deal £37:00 for a double en suite room.the manager on reception vera was so helpfull and friendly.the hotel is going through a refurbishment and we were fortunate enough to get one of the finished rooms.car parking is free which is a bonus as car parking in newcastle can be expensive.there was a stag party and hen party the night we were there and we never heard a sound. Its a ten minute waik into the centre of newcastle. All in all i would recommend this Hotel and we have booked again for november.

I stayed in Rooms inn in Newcastle and had booked just 2 days before travel in which were fortunate to get a room for myself and wife and which was handy rooms inn as i seen wasnt far from city centre area and only a 5 min walk really , although there is a bus stop just outside the main entrance but with the Weather being nice we walked the 5 mins into city centre area

All was ok , a little noise at times through night but in a way expected when you have young people in Newcastle for a weekend visit or on holiday

Only thing i would say is breakfast wouldve been nice to have had as the majority of folks just use the rooms for sleeping in as we did as out majority of day and night
although there is a tv which was ok and a kettle for tea / coffee

As sais only approx a 5 mins walk and had nice breakfast elsewhere
and its so easy to find some places whom do full eng breakfasts with tea for £5 per person

The Bathroom had a shower over the bath , all in all ok and clean
but best thing was and ive been in Newcastle several times and learnt a lesson
was being close proximity to the city centre :)

As for some individuals saying that Rooms Inn is in a rough area
C'Mon give it a break , are you guys from the poshest part of the South of England i guess

as this is in a safe and ok area in Elswick, Newcastle

Where i found the folks were friendly, ordinary, but fun people which we prefer.

Room service we never used so never marked such neither fitness centre :)

Room Tip: Well because i made a booking just 2 day in advance , id recommend anyone asking for the newly built...

Stayed here for 2 nights for a stag so. My first impressions were pretty good, the reception is clean and tidy and the staff pretty friendly, although it took a while to be acknowledged. I'd arrived before the rest of the group so there was a faff to get into my room as the full payment hadn't been made but after a while the receptionist let me in which was good of her. The room was disappointing compared to the reception. There are renovations taking place but I couldn't tell if my room was pre or post renovations, either way the room, although clean smelled of stale smoke and the finish on the wardrobes and in the bathroom was terrible. The rooms have large showers but mine and a friends flooded if the shower was on full for too long, too long being less than a minute.

I guess this place is popular with groups as it seems to be geared up for that but it's not in the best location and could be so much more than it is and I would have thought there is better out there for the same price.

I wouldn't recommend this place for a normal stay but for a stag do it's a fairly safe bet.

I arrived here last weekend for a stag, initially we were told it was £78 per person, then it was £87 per person when we arrived. Plus a £20 deposit per person. I'm really sorry I didn't check out trip advisor before we booked it. It's in a residential part of town (council estate by looks of it) on West Parade and we were told by some locals that its a really dodgy part of town. When coming back at night, don't walk, be sure to get a taxi. The walk into town centre is a bit more than 10 minutes, try 20 and I walk pretty fast.

The hotel was also undergoing renovations but again this wasn't mentioned when we booked it and the hammering started at 7am. It's a cheap hotel but the lack of bar and food facilities meant that staying here was a bit of a bore, especially if after a night on the town you wanted a few hours around the hotel. The staff were pleasant and friendly, this was the only positive thing I can say about the place, other than that it was one of the worst places I've ever stayed in. The room I was in was a bit dated and near a kids playground so you'd hear the kids screaming from 8am, the Bathroom was tiny and dirty and the room was also very small and the television on the left hand side of the bed!!! To be honest if you're considering somewhere cheap this is for you, but if you want somewhere closer to town, a bit more modern and somewhere with breakfast and bar facilities - pay a little bit extra (You'll save on taxi fares too) and you won't regret it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the playground.

Our stay at Rooms Inn in Newcastle was very enjoyable, very quiet and the staff were very attentive. It is located across the road from Newcastle College. We arrived about 2.30pm and there was a sign saying there were renovations being carried out but this meant that the room we had, room 304 at the end of the corridor on the first floor, had recently been renovated. Very spacious room. There was a lot of prints of a map of Newcastle in reception and this made it easy to see where we had to go. The receptionist told us that Metro Radio venue was about 10 minutes walk downhill and we found a lovely takeaway nearby which also had some seats and we had a lovely meal, the chips were great. When we asked for some more tea bags and milk they were brought to our room. Highly recommended for a quiet nights rest.
