“The best hotel in Newcastle!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2011

My husband and I returned to this hotel again for our anniversairy this year. Last year we had an amazing time, the hotel itself is beautiful and glamorous, decorated elegantly and unique.
The staff were welcoming and knowledgable. We had a fabulous time lasy year in the opulence room and there was no questioning the fact that we would stay in the same room again.
The room itself is stunning, warm and perfect. The bath in the bay window makes the room really special.
We were treated really well and would recomend it to anyone, as a treat or for business or for family stays. It really is the nicest hotel we have stayed in.
The breakfast as well is to die for! Especially after a few too many drinks. Perfectly cooked full English, delicious coffee and fresh tea.
We can't wait for our anniversairy next year and we know exactly where we will be.
Thank you so much to all the staff there who made our anniversairy even more prefect!

Room Tip: The opulence room is amazing!

I was on business doing an exhibition at Newcastle Racecourse (10-15min drive away), the Hotel is a stylishly updated grand Victorian building, in the middle of a quiet tree-lined street which is just off a main road and thus easy to find and even had some off road parking. I arrived around 8pm having booked Room 1 online.

Wow! Deliciousness decorated small luxury double room, beautifully presented with matching throw and pillows, straddled by high gloss dark wood veneer bedside draws and matching bedside and ceiling lights, reading spotlights with 'his & her' switches and thick soft cotton sheets and comfy bed. There was a large black inbuilt wardrobe to the right and large mirror to the left. Lovely shower room, luxury toilet paper, fixtures and fittings all of the highest standards and top quality all natural gorgeous bathroom products. TV & Freeview. Tea Fresh Milk & Kenyan Coffee supplied.

The host was friendly, personable always happy to help. For breakfast I opted for a fruit salad with some yogurt, some apple juice and a fresh cup of loose-leaf great tasting herbal tea.

I've previously set up a Guest House near Bakewell and know how much effort goes into creating such an amazing hotel but I would suggest 3 small improvements. 1. an additional roller blind, behind the regular blinds to make the rooms darker in the morning, and 2. that the fruit salad use slightly riper pears, perhaps with some strawberries & 3. Greek style yog?

Otherwise 5*'s for this stylish, luxury, beautique hotel! An absolute delight to find in Newcastle!

Room Tip: Rooms 1 & 2 are a little on the small side - but lovely anyway.

Myself and three friends “treated” ourselves to a brilliant Group-On deal for a cream tea for two for £7, which turned out to be an absolute bargain. When we arrived (via the metro so no worries about parking!) we were all very impressed with the dining room. The service was very, very good and the cream tea itself very enjoyable. We didn’t get a choice of cake but what we were given was delicious. We were given a choice of scone (cheese or fruit) and they all tasted lovely and - a real bonus - we were given a tea pot that actually poured tea without spilling any!!! We would all be happy to visit again.

I took my elderly Mother In Law for afternoon tea to the Town House and we loved it
She is 86 so it is difficult to find something she enjoys but this fit the bill totaly
We had a lovely sandwich selection followed by a cheese scone and then a very large slice of parsnip cake which had to taken home for later as no room left - the owner happy to provide a bag for us
The owner and her staff we found to be very obliging indeed and nothing was too much trouble
We could have just booked a room and stayed there and then it is such a lovely place
This is the first time I have ever written I review but feel it worthy of my time as it is so lovely and also I get fed up with all the "medioca" places we have around here, that is such a treat to come accross The Town House which we found outstanding and will certainly be back.

Thanks for making my 86 year old Mother In Laws BIrthday treat special.

We booked this hotel due to its proximity to Newcastle Racecourse. Cute little boutique hotel just off Gosforth High Street. We stayed in a standard room. When I rang to book they gave us room 6 which I was told is the most spacious of all the standard rooms - the room is actaully tiny which makes me wonder just how small the others are! The smallness of the room wasn't a problem as we were only staying one night however if you were to stay a longer it could be an issue. The room was decorated lovely, had a soft cloud-like big bed and a fantastic bathroom.

We enjoyed our stay.

We stayed here for one night. The room was clean and comfortable and very modern. The only problem was that we were at the top of the hotel and had to drag huge suitcases up 3 flights of steps. The breakfast was good. It was not a "friendly" B&B with a personal touch, but was professional. Parking may be a problem as they had no permits available - luckily we left early.
