“Cycling or hiking day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

Realy nice for an active day out hiking or cycling. The views at the top of Box hill are lovely. There is a cafe close to the top to unwind or some pubs in the Dorking area for meals and drinks. It is only about an hour by train from London so it is suitable for a day trip from the city.

“The path less travelled makes all the difference”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

Most of the reviews here reflect the experience from the various car parks at Box Hill, but if approaching from Dorking an excellent route can be taken (see the Ordnance Survey) on footpaths from the A25 'chicken roundabout ascending the south-facing flanks of Box Hill - up to the road, then heading East a short distance if you want to visit The Box Tree pub, or I tend to carry on North ultimately to White Hill then carry on to Mickleham for lunch and return to the Dorking area via The Mole Gap Trail to the West of the A24, going through Denbies vineyards to arrive back in the West end of town. This is a superb circuit, particularly in autumn! Groans with blackberries currently in September.

“London 100, here we come!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

Did it, puffed a bit but made some of the young sprogs look like amateurs. We're mad cyclists, in our 60's, but up for a challenge. The views looking down over the valley absolutely gorgeous. WooHoo!!!

“Stunning views from the top across Dorking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

Go the whole hog and climb up rom the car park by Rykers cafe on the A24. When you come back down, use the path to the left and go down the steps and cross the river over the stepping stones.

“Beautiful Views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

Boxhill is an absolutely lovely place to visit with fabulous views to the south. Lots of walks but be prepared to climb as some of the slopes are steep. If you drive up the zigzag road from Mickleham be aware that the area is very popular with cyclists most if whom can't ride up the steep hill in a straight line! Refreshments are available at the top. Parking is adequate but on busy days it can be difficult to find a space.
