“Reasonably priced set menus”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

The set menus were very good with several choices for each course, The only down-side was that the fish in the fish and chips was ever so slightly on the 'nouvelle' cuisine side - 2 of our party had what looked like one fish cut in two! The difference with the substantial sherpherd's pie was marked. However, when considered as part of a 3 course menu the fish wasn't quite as stingy as it first appeared - but if you had a big appetite I'd avoid the fish. The quality was high across all three courses although sadly the accompanying bread wasn't fresh (a common complaint in these parts). Service was mostly very good - a few 'odd' moments but nothing nightmarish. All-in-all definitley a place I would return to.

“They did it again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Another superb lunch for two. It was a lovely late Summer's day, and we received the usual warm welcome, fine pint (for me) and two excellent courses. Maitre D (at our request) brought 'Melford' the 'Labradoodle' dog to say hello. Never had a single black mark for this diner.

“dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

A delightful and very restful dinner for 2 with plenty of choice and good value. well served and presented, freshly prepared portions at large tables well spaced about in the dining room for some privacy with clean linen. Staff very attentive but never overbearing and very good service. The bar service was excellent as we had refreshments before dinner. Parking outside was relatively easy with lovely views of the Church, school and Almshouses. Very reasonable value for the quality. Would like to go again

“Wonderful Lazy Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

On a Lovely sunny Saturday lunch time my husband and I met up with our friend who had travelled from Kent just for lunch. As it was so warm we decided to have a drink outside to catch up on all our news, while looking at the menu. There really was a wide choice from light snacks to a tasting menu. We all chose from chef's set menu. Each course had a choice of four dishes that we were able to choose from. Once our order was taken there was time to finish our drinks before being shown to our table in their light and airy restaurant, which was extremely pleasant. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. A jug of ice water was brought to our table without having to ask. We all agreed the food was delicious and the sticky toffee pudding was as light as air and very yummy. At no time did we feel rushed and the timing in between courses was just right. We are meeting up again in early December and have already decided where to go, can't wait to return even if it does mean another journey from Kent!
