“Warm and friendly atmosphere”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

On a cold day a warm and friendly atmosphere was very welcome. Staff were 'relaxed' and food took a little longer than it should to arrive. When it came it was what you would expected for the money, well cooked, good quality.
Will go again..........but not yet.

“Nice space, food average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

We liked the restaurant itself, the staff were attentive, if a little young to be making suggestions, taking orders etc.

Menu sounded lovely but didn't really deliver anything exceptional. Found the fish pie pretty stodgy for my taste.

It is probably best at lunchtime.

“Mediocre tepid food at a high price”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

We had heard mixed reports from friends since the change in ownership but decided to see for ourselves - wish we hadn't bothered. Very slow service and mediocre tepid food. They had run out of my choice of starter, the risotto I chose instead tasted ok but was luke warm. We then waited forever for our main courses. Hard to ruin a skate wing but they had. Trimmed to half normal size, served with an overpoweringly flavoured sauce and cold mashed potato (I have since read previous review about this!). No veg included and other meals similarly disappointing. We won't be back but suspect it will survive on the tourist trade rather than repeat custom which is a shame for everyone - there are far better places to eat at locally including The Great House just next door, The Crown in Stoke by Nayland, The Crown in Bildeston and the Lindsey Rose to name a few. We were not once asked how everything was by the staff which was very telling - I expect they have become used to a negative response. At these prices I expect better.
