“Charcuterie board underdelivers..”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We ordered a charcuterie board to share at 14 pounds. Firstly, I feel that food served on a board hides a multitude of sins because food looks good on a board as opposed to a plate. It is deceiving.. you spend unnecessary energy looking at the board rather than what is on it.. What we got were a couple of slices of supermarket Parma (probably from Lidl) and a few slices of oxidised and sweaty, salami also from a supermarket packet which had probably been opened too long. . a miniscule pot of olives, four chunks of foccacia with dipping oil and four minute bocconcino mozzarellas. All in all about 2.50 - 3 pounds worth of food if that. Food like this patronises the customer.. I am sure they could do better.

Friendly staff and clean room however I wouldn't want to stay in room 9 in the summer. We couldn't open the windows and it is on the front of the hotel with outside seating right under the windows and was very noisy(no double glazing) with only a few tables taken by drinkers. On long summer nights it could be many more drinkers and go on until late. Extractor fan in shower/toilet not working which we reported and mirror too high, I couldn't see in it.
No fruit salad on any of the three mornings although it was on the menu but cooked breakfast fine and good selection. Restaurant meals good.

Stayed one night and our room (no. 1) was pleasant. Warm, spacious and a good night's sleep. Bathroom, shower and towels good. Location very good, the breakfast menu varied and the food well cooked. Nice bar and lounge with comfy sofas and complimentary newspapers. Our only criticism was the lack of Wi-fi and, as another contributor has mentioned, the fact that none of the staff seemed to think this was a problem and nobody offered to sort it out. It was just assumed that we would have to put up with it. Another slightly worrying thing was the faint smell of drains on the way up to our room. We would, however, stay here again.

7 of us had lunch at The Angel on Easter Monday. We all had one of the roast dinners which were of a good standard but for £20 for 2 courses no better than I would have expected. The staff were very friendly and helpful which all helped in making this a lovely lunch. I would certainly go back and try their standard menu.

Stayed 3 nights over Easter, room ok, bed was comfortable. Staff friendly, but all a bit too casual. Ate twice in the restaurant food was good and nicely presented a bit different from breakfasts, two mornings good but third greasy bacon obviously well used oil and just thrown on the plate. No wifi as advertised and no one seemed bothered and when we came to pay our bill, we were given someone else's and asked 'does that look right'. Lavenham is lovely, Angel needs to do better.

7 off us for sunday lunch read reviews for food they all sounded good, but unfortunately 5 out of 7 wasn't so tasty ! Lamb was very under cooked as was the beef, meat was that raw meat nearly walked off the plate, couldn't chew it struggled to even cut the meat, knife not shape enough wouldn't even cut butter, one member of our party didn't eat any of there meat as so raw, also hate to add food wasn't very hot either, if anyone having beef or lamb in future tell them how you want it cooked ! Sorry will not be returning.
