“The Team at The Mill Inn & More”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Had a great stay at the Mill. Dennis - Sue & their team are a delight to meet - having stayed at all those plastic type Inns - hotels it was so refreshing to enjoy a real experience of good english hospitality excellent food - fine local ales & wines.

Having stayed away on business quite alot on business in Suffolk & Norfolk Area I would certainly return & also recommend to Family & Friends etc .

It was also good to see many Locals enjoying the Pub & to know & find out that this is the local Pub for the Life Boat Guys & Girls.

Summary - If you are luck enough to stay in the Suffolk - Norfolk Area please do not miss the chance to make a visit .

Kind Regards

Although we were kept waiting a while (owner/chef apologised and explained this was due to everything being prepared fresh) it was worth the wait. We had 4 different choices from the menu, all were prepared and cooked well. Washed down with Adnams Ales.

We stayed here as a base for The Aldeburgh carnival, for which it is perfectly situated, right in the centre of town.
The Inn is very old so no en-suite bathrooms but bathroom and shower room were handy.
The downstairs pub area has recently been refurbed and looked very good. The upstairs although clean and cosy needs the same treatment as its decor is tired.
Breakfasts were of good quality and the staff were very friendly.
Carnival weekend is very busy and noisy which could be a problem for some, we loved it , it was a great atmosphere and hope to return one day.

We only stayed one night but enjoyed it. Unfortunately the Pub was going through a refurb when we visited so perhaps didn't see it at it's best. Nonetheless we enjoyed the night. The room was basic but comfortable, but mattress on the double bed seemed an odd shape, We kept rolling towards the edge. The breakfast cooked by Sue was sumptious and delicious. So all in all good value but with shared bathroom. Don't forget to try the Adnams in the bar that's also served perfectly.

We love this place and are always happy to go back. The location is fantastic, the inn cosy and welcoming, and the landlords friendly and serving up a great suffolk breakfast.

Stayed at the mill inn for my 50th birthday weekend break. The actual sleeping area was basic, none of the bedrooms were on-suite.maybe it was becoz they were to about to take on a re-furbisment.The rest of the stay was really enjoyable. The staff were really friendly & accomadating,& the breakfast was plentiful. The bar menu although not extensive, the food was really good.Had a meal at the white lion hotel next door as a friend recommended it,but had a bad meal & was left dissapointed,as the hotel itself was very swish.
Walked along the coastline to a little village called thorpeness, was quiet & picturesque, with a nice tea shop on a lake, which sold bird food so you could feed the swans & ducks that lived on the lake. Then turned back & walked the opposite way to a nature reserve called orford ness, where a lot of interesting species of birds could be found.
The coastal walks are incredable with plenty to look at,although the town itself has shops ,
you wont find some of the shops you looking for.

We only stayed for one night but we really enjoyed our stay. Friendly pub, good food and very dog friendly! Location is superb, in one direction you have Aldeburgh with its shops and pubs and in the other direction long (dog friendly) stretch of beach which offers a lovely walk to another nice town of Thorpeness. Room was nice, price was reasonable. So very good pick imo!
