“Simple and effective!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

We eat here quite regularly and enjoy the food very much... Usual simple and tasty, OH recommends the mixed grill, the juniors enjoyed the original spit roast and I enjoyed the 7oz gammon.... We were warned we might have to wait an hour for food which seemed a bit strange as not that many in but it was no whee near as long... Service was okay, a little wait but nothing major... Clean and tidy with a pleasant atmosphere... Mixture if people, families with young children, couples, older kids, Tweens and teens and some older couples so has a good appeal to all ... Go on enjoy a good spit roast !!!

“Not bad just slow service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Food was ok. Not great but not the worse in the world.

Have to say service was not the quickest I have ever had. If you are going to watch Stoke City Vs Whoever it is a great location next to the stadium. Holiday Inn Express Hotel also next door.

Tables were clean around us and cutlery was clean.

Never had to wait too long for a table to sit down. The staff were polite and not rude. In my personal opinon not a bad restaurant but just needs some more waiting staff.

“Good location, starters a little over priced, but mains good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Was staying in the Holiday Inn Express and we saw the Harvester on arrival so we decided we would go there for our evening meal. We have been to a Harvester before so knew what to expect.

We had good service and didnt have to wait for a table - although I think that may have been due to the fact we were there early.

We ordered our drinks which came promtly - we had two children with us who ordered milkshakes which came but had ice cubes in them - which watered the drinks down quite a lot - so was not impressed with this.

We asked for the childrens meals to be brought out when we had our starters which was not a problem - although the fish was dropped accidently on the floor but was promptly replaced.

I had the starter of the potato skins which I thought was a little expensive for what I had - 3 halfs of little potatoes and a small pot of sour cream! Drinks also overpriced.

The mains were good value for money and was very nice.

Very good location if staying at the Hoilday Inn and would go there again but would most likely not order a starter!

“Cosy and warm atsmophere but slow service!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012 via mobile

Visited here a number of times, but this time me amd my partner decided to eat here as The Harvester down at Trentham had a cooker broken.

The atsmophere is always spot on, got a nice warm cosy feeling to it, always a good sign.

As we were seated the girl asked us what we would like to drink. We placed our order. 10 minutes later another waitress asked us and we said we already placed an order. 5 minutes later our drink arrived ( 15 minutes for 2 drinks ) then we placed our order there and then.

Food was spot on and all in all we enjoyed it, the service just seemed a total let down.

We will visit again because the atsmophere and food was great, as long as were in no hurry!

“Worst experience to date.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012 via mobile

The surroundings were warm and cosy - that is the best part of the establishment!

Service was slow, the female serving had some gripe with work colleague which filtered through her work.

I had to ask if we were to place order with desk or and she abruptly interrupted me with "I will take your order in minute!" Lovely service.

We were here after a long day at Alton towers and staying at the hotel next door.

We order and food arrived which was overlooked and obviously kept warm under grill - so much so that my knife would not cut the wrap! (Prawn wrap with ginger and chilli salad) the salad was warm and limp (not worth eating).

The best thing was the complimentry salad bar! I filled up on this instead.

Other meals in the group were fairly tasteless.

Suggestion: serving food that needs cutting required proper cutlery ie sharp knife.
