“August bank holiday weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2014

We booked this back in April 2014, so got a great deal. This time we took our 2 dogs for £40 extra for 3 nights. This wasn't a problem for the staff who are extremely pleasant and friendly and make you feel very very welcome, a credit especially after coming from the London area where we live! The rooms are clean and tidy with all the normal facilities. We'll worth the money we spent around £125 for 2 adults and 2 dogs for 3 nights, I would recommend a stay here especially with a Toby carvery attached which I have reviewed also on trip advisor

Room Tip: We stayed on the ground floor in room 106 which overlooks the pub beer garden but is at the far end...

We stayed at this Travelodge for two nights 8th and 9th August 2014 while attending a family wedding. We were in a party of 18. The booking in process was quick and the reception staff polite and helpful. The rooms were clean, comfortable and furnished to a satisfactory standard but feel they were in need of a face lift, they were just a little tired.

Overall our stay was enjoyable and would this lodge again.

Pleasant, helpful staff who assisted with our requirements. Very quiet location even though attached to Toby Carvery and far enough back from the main road. Better quality furniture and bathroom fittings than usual Travelodge but I got the impression that the Lodge used to be a different company. Bathroom shower hose showing signs of wear and discolouration which was a shame as quality floor/wall tiles. Booked the day before so not the best price for a Travelodge.

What to say about Travelodge Stoke-on-trent, they do have a bed, there’s a bathroom, there’s a toilet, and there’s an incredibly strange shower with one button that in the same go controls pressure and temperature, pressure is binary that is…. ON and OFF.

In 2014 there is a hotel that does not provide wifi to their customers, you can get 30 minutres for free every 24 hours and that’s it …. Are they still living in the stoneage around here, this is the age of smartphones, ipads, chromebooks, and there’s no proper Internet provisioning. The bar next door provides free wireless if you do have a UK cell phone….. Hello, there are other countries than UK in the world. WAKE UP...

When all this is said, Travelodge is a standable hotel, it’s a low priced hotel, and the service, provisioning and standard reflects this low level. For us it worked more or less ok. We could stand staying here a few days as long as we did not look into the dirty floor, corners and fittings.

Is it a place to recommend? not really, but I would maybe consider to go back if I wanted a simple place that is dirt cheap and low standard and I did not have any expectations to be fulfilled...

I was very impressed with this Travelodge. I booked a double and a twin room and both were immaculate, comfortable beds, good supply of hot water and plenty of space. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Unlike other reviews for this hotel, I did not find the decor tired and felt that the accommodation was very good value for money. Various places to eat nearby and a short 20 minute drive to Alton Towers.
