“Very good for the price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

My boyfriend and I visited in April 2012 for 2 nights as it was handy for Alton Towers nearby (about 20 minutes drive) we had no complaints about the hotel at all, even though its next to a pub restaurant you hear nothing in your rooms, we never ate at the Toby Carvery ourselves but the hotels in good location to travel out to other restaurants.
The rooms were big, spacious and clean with all the usual amenities, the staff on reception were polite and helpful.
Considering we only paid £10 a night when other hotels closer to Alton Towers charged more £70-£100 a night we got a great bargain, and would definitely return.

I booked this hotel as it was cheap and an ideal stop off before going to Alton Towers the next day (only 30 mins away). The travelodge itself was very clean, had a nice comfy bed and the room was a lot bigger than I expected it to be. Not like a usual travelodge set out, was much better. Staff were friendly and check in was very quick. The toby carvery next door did an all you can eat breakfast for £3.99 which was really good. Would recommend staying here to anyone.

Not bad for a Travelodge and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Bed could have been more comfortable but rooms clean and tidy. The downside is the Toby Carvery next door, awful service with the initial greeting when I went to the bar to order drinks at 8.15pm. I asked for a coke for my 16 year old son and received the following response "I need to see your sons ID", apparently this Toby has a ruling that after 9pm you have to be over 18 to be in the pub. This ruling seems strange seeing it is supposed to be a family restaurant but the way the women approached this was rude to say he least. The food is average and breakfast is very poor which is a shame because it spoiled our stay.

Stayed here for two nights whilst visiting Alton towers. Much cheaper than the Utoxeter travelodge but still less than 30 min drive to Alton towers. Reception staff very friendly and attentive. Rooms spotless. Would highly recommend you dine at the Harvester a two min drive away instead of the adjoining Toby carvery; also breakfast at Toby was overpriced and disgusting, we avoided it after the first day. Anyway, this is an excellent travelodge and you'll have a great stay, especially if you look a little further afield for meals.

Checked in by a very nice member of staff who was very heplful and nothing was a problem.
Rooms were spotless with modern fittings and not a speck of dust in sight.
Bathroom was sparkling clean with nice clean towels.
Great location for Alton towers stop overs.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at back overlooking garden.

Stayed here after a day at Alton towers,it's sort of nearby 16 miles ish, very helpful receptionist, brought up some extra pillows within minutes of getting into room, hotel was very quite maybe because it was a Wednesday. There is a Toby inn next which is ideal for evening meal and breakfast. There are nearer hotels near Alton towers but as for price we couldn't knock our stay after previous travelodges.Recommeneded.

Stayed here on business, staff are very friendly and the restaurant attached is also good. However, the travelodge is in desperate need of updating. The carpets are fairly dirty and the furniture is variable as are the beds. The cleaning leaves a lot to be desired. Could be really great but would also take the Premier Inn at Trentham for a much better stay despite it costing more.

Room Tip: Suggest you stay at Premier Inn at Trentham Gardens.
