“fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

great food, lovely comfortable room, good location, helpful friendly staff.
We stayed at the swan saturday 2nd december and had an evening meal at the resturant.
The swan hotel web site has a diferent sat nav post code which directs you straight to the car park at the rear of the hotel (st16 2aj). This is useful as the hotel is on the main shopping street in the centre of stafford and parking elsewhere is a pain. when you check in you get a card from reception to display on your car windscreen and park free.
We booked this trip through a late bookings website and got a good deal on the room.
The rooms are clean with a comfortable bed, satalite tv, iron, hairdryer, tea, coffee bottled water and biscuits. The bath is a decent size and the shower good.
We stayed in room 101 which is above the bar and as it gets busy on a saturday night and previous reviewers have comented about noise levels being high i was concerned. The swan website even warns about noise levels. As it turned out i could not hear a thing at night and it was a saturday night and the bar was packed - i dont know what these people are complaining about. As for the church bells in the morning i liked it - it adds a bit of character to the place.
The resturant at the swan is excellent and the staff are very efficient. We had a meal there and went to the bar next to the resturant in the swan later on and stayed there all night and had a great night. The bar is really good - loads of real ales to choose from which is good and unusual for a town centre bar and no queues as there was plenty of bar staff .
One last thing if you come to Stafford to do some shopping i would advise go elsewhere. The main street where the swan is is ok but the rest of the place is pound shops and charity shops.
i will be going back to the swan again.
hope this review is useful

“Food at the Brasserie - Lovely and great value!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

I have eaten lunch here several times and keep on forgetting to praise them for their efforts !
However, better late than never?
The lunch menu is not only very tasty, it's great value at around a fiver or so.
We have often both have the club sandwich (they use lovely carved ham) but one day we decided on the ploughmans and the club sandwich so we could split them (love variety!) The ploughmans was really tasty so we shall do that again.
The staff will happily serve you at the table in the brasserie but unfortunately you have to ask and, the service at the bar is as slow as it is in the evening.
If the management could maybe pop someone in there just to calculate how long they have to wait to be served they would probably train the staff to move just a bit faster especially when there are a few people waiting - I have genuinely witnessed potential customers leave the bar without ordering.
Having said that, it is well worth a visit for the lovely lunch menu.

“A nice relaxing stay at the Swan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

A lovely hotel in a lovely setting alongside a river with a Lake out front. Helpful friendly staff. An excellent restaurant and cosy bar. Decent size rooms with very good service. We went when there was a half price deal on the room which included breakfast and was very good value for money.
Will definitely stay there next time we are in the area provided we can get the same deal. All in all a very pleasant experience.

Thank you for your review on Trip Advisor. I think you may have got The Swan Hotel confused with our sister hotel The Moat House, Acton Trussell...

“Wonderful, very friendly stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

We arrived after a very long and tiring journey to a smiling face and warm welcome. Granted, it wasn't an easy place to find (although we don't have a sat-nav), but just by asking at the nearest shop, and encountering very helpful staff, it wasn't too tricky. We were really pleasantly surprised by the room rate (£68 for a double standard with breakfast) and the overall quality of the room...fabulous! We had never visited Stafford town prior to this visit and it was only because our son was at the university that we made this trip. What an amazing place and such friendly folks! We originally booked a table for 3 for the evening meal and upped that to 5 after he invited his chums - no problem...couldn't be more helpful! The food was excellent and we all had drinks, a main and dessert for an extremely reasonable price - £110 - everything was cooked to perfection and served with a smile - we were more than looked after. Having been out in the town, my husband returned to possibly the most accommodating night porter we've come across - couldn't have been more helpful and friendly! Regardless of some of the other reviews (regarding church bells, noise, traffic, etc) we had a wonderful night's sleep without any disturbance. Breakfast was, again, served with a big smile and some lovely information regarding the history of the area and interesting places to visit. The quality of the food was excellent and without a doubt, we shall be returning to The Swan Hotel for a much longer stay in the, hopefully, not too distant future....fabulous!

“An enjoyable evening at The Swan!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

We went on a Tuesday night for drinks and pizzas in the bar area. There were quite a few people in there early evening and the atmosphere was really nice and welcoming.

The freshly cooked pizzas were very tasty and the drinks well kept.

Bar staff really friendly and efficient. We really enjoyed our evening :-)
