“Wonderful, very friendly stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

We arrived after a very long and tiring journey to a smiling face and warm welcome. Granted, it wasn't an easy place to find (although we don't have a sat-nav), but just by asking at the nearest shop, and encountering very helpful staff, it wasn't too tricky. We were really pleasantly surprised by the room rate (£68 for a double standard with breakfast) and the overall quality of the room...fabulous! We had never visited Stafford town prior to this visit and it was only because our son was at the university that we made this trip. What an amazing place and such friendly folks! We originally booked a table for 3 for the evening meal and upped that to 5 after he invited his chums - no problem...couldn't be more helpful! The food was excellent and we all had drinks, a main and dessert for an extremely reasonable price - £110 - everything was cooked to perfection and served with a smile - we were more than looked after. Having been out in the town, my husband returned to possibly the most accommodating night porter we've come across - couldn't have been more helpful and friendly! Regardless of some of the other reviews (regarding church bells, noise, traffic, etc) we had a wonderful night's sleep without any disturbance. Breakfast was, again, served with a big smile and some lovely information regarding the history of the area and interesting places to visit. The quality of the food was excellent and without a doubt, we shall be returning to The Swan Hotel for a much longer stay in the, hopefully, not too distant future....fabulous!

“An enjoyable evening at The Swan!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

We went on a Tuesday night for drinks and pizzas in the bar area. There were quite a few people in there early evening and the atmosphere was really nice and welcoming.

The freshly cooked pizzas were very tasty and the drinks well kept.

Bar staff really friendly and efficient. We really enjoyed our evening :-)

“Great Quality Hotel, Shame about the food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Stayed overnight while visiting Stafford and ate evening meal in the bar, and breakfast next day.

Accommodation was excellent, very large room, although the bed was definitely a double and looked a bit lost given the size of the room.

Food was disappointing, the lamb burger tasted like a birds eye grill steak.

Breakfast the next day was confused by a menu which displayed prices when we thought breakfast was included (which it was). Full English should have been on a smaller plate to make it look less sparse, and one cup of coffee was quite miserly.

“Really, really impressed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Whilst out with elderly parents in Stafford at the weekend we called into the Swan for a light lunch and I have to say I was blown away by the place. The outside doesn't really do it justice but inside - WOW! Great character and full of history (ask at reception and they will print you off the full history of the hotel; a great touch). We sat in bar overlooking the garden and close to the beautiful roaring log burner. I thought the service was very good, a lovely balanced menu catering for both lighter and full lunches and the food was very good although the smoked haddock rarebit was a little on the meager side in terms of it's value for money. We walked into the restaurant just for a nose, and had a couple of staff asking us if we needed any help which was good. I would definitely recommend this hotel for dining; didnt see the rooms so cant comment on the accommodation.

“A quality town centre hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

I have stayed in this hotel on two occasions whilst attending functions in Stafford town centre.
The rooms are lovely and unique due to the age of the hotel and the staff very friendly.
The bar and bistro are also very good.
Highly recommended.
